hey guys

And just to reiterate my thanks to everyone, jumping up to help a brand new member really demonstrates hiw kind people in the honda scene are (is also why i brought my fn1 gt becauseof how welcome i felt on civinfo!)
thanks guys :)

The thing about that black one(if it's the one I'm thinking of) is the engine is just a standard b18c4 from an aerodeck(civic wagon) like £500 worth of engine compared to the money spent in that forged block in the silver one. Personally I think the silver one is worth more than the black one

Shhh jesse dont say that ;) looks like a viewing is in order then? Anybody around leeds way? Thats where the car is and you guys know what you're looking for in a bad one more than i do, i work with cars but not old civics mainly m series bmws and porsches :p

You'll love the old civic don't worry. Go turbo and most likely be faster than the majority of our Porsches and M cars aswell tbh lol

personally dont think its a great sign when someone spends a supposed £9k on a build and allows the car to look barry as hell...
also, B16b guessing its not longer an actual b16b?
and it says 8 pot brakes but they look standard in the photo. looks a proper dog lol

I'd keep it silver if you get it, a lot more rare than black!

The black looks alot better though, the engine is a b16, it had a spoon 1800 kit and now its forged, not sure on the brakes though, im getting the full spec through tomorrow with fresh pictures to show condition before i make the trek to see it so can update you guys

Nicole makes a good point, although I'd rather spend the money on a mechanically sound car that's scruffy than a mint looking car that runs like ****.
IMO is easier and cheaper to have the car painted etc than have the engine built up etc

Yehh im well aware of the cost of the mechanics compared to aesthetic, ive had a local body shop now offer a sponsership- they've offered me a full baremetal respray im any colour for 1700, and if there is any rust repair need i have to pay in full for that, aslong as i have their logo somewhere on the car

Yeh I agree Jesse, just scruffy doesnt say much about the care taken with the car I think?

I think I'd always rather start with a base like me and Jesse and know everything thats gone on :) find a nice example clean example for £5 - £2k change from this £7k you want to spend, plus £1700 for this respray and however much more for rust and you're on your way to building your own beast!
I know someone whos swapped an engine out before selling a car, and engines sold forged that are standard but with huge invoices - basically I dont trust anyone hahah

I get where you're coming from! I just thought that if i buy one with engine work done i can avoid a big bill, if something goes wrong i can just replace parts rather than having to upgrade so and so, not sure i put that across very well but hopefully you see what i mean:p
just got a message from the guy, also having a new greddy turbo on it this week- here's a couple of snips from the last few messages

"Hes also puttin a greddy turbo unit on the car plus uprated and better bosch injectors as the rc injectors dont idle well.
Yes hes had it for awhile. Last thing he told me is hes got a greddy turbo for it.and better injectors.he will get that turbo on 4 u and get it remapped for u.and give it a full service and brake change.
The older turbo has too much lag and this greddy turbo is a more responsive"

This is the guys brother ( my friend) i was messaging his brother but his phone died and they're with each other at the min, there somes some info.. it sounds well looked after mechanically?

Starting with a standard car is the best way to go about it. Although it can then get very costly.

The thing I am slightly confused about with the VSM 9 is why a small front wheel drive car has and needs 380bhp? Sounds like a car that's built to show off over the internet... but can all that power really be utilised?

Hopefully I'll be able to tell you soon enough. Well I won't make 380 but shouldn't be far off.
From driving my 280ho that was very drivable, not sure about 380 though if I'm honest.
It might grip in 3rd?
