Hi all,

Im new on this so not sure if im posting this in the right section or not ?
Im after a car to be used in a sprint hill/climb championship and not sure which one of the following would be the best ?

Integra Type R UK Car 99-00
Integra DC2 98+ JDM
Integra DC5 01+ JDM
Civic Type R Uk 01+
Civic EP3
Civic EK9

The car needs to be nimble, great handling, good steering, quick as possible in the gears, good brakes. The performance is also important but top speed not so much as the max speed which i will hit would be around 120mph.

The car will have to be kept standard except for tyres and minor mods etc.

Could people give me there opinions on which are the best im looking to spend no more than 10k please

Regards gareth

I drove a 2000 W reg EK9 last weekend and enjoyed it, but couldnt get to grips with the perfomance due to the tyres or road conditions at the time etc.

The tyres were Yokohama Ice guard studdless tyres and im sure these are meant for snow or icey conditions ?

The car was spinning all the way through 1st,2nd and a bit in 3rd aswell. At one point i turned into a roundabout and the car was slowly drifting side ways so definetly not the right tyres for UK rounds i dont think ?

Let me have your opinions

You want something nice and torquey for a hill climb car, so having never even driven one I'm going to say the DC5 type-R. Either that or the 98+ JDM ITR.
Jugbugz has personal experience with a lot of these models, he'll chime in I'm sure.

JDM Integra will be best as stock, but weight matters even more in a hill climb due to gravity, so DC2 may be better. Or a turbo would definately get the torque in the range you need.

Thanks guys the class is the standard class upto 1600cc or upto 2000cc n/a

Has any one heard if those tyres on the one I drove at the wknd?

Thanks

The tires you used were for ice and snow, not really a high performance road tire.

if you are allowed to modify the final drive i would say a 96 spec integra type R with a 4.928 final drive from Mfactory, if you can do gearing i would contact him for a good set up, i think that would benefit you most. i'd also go with a big 225/45/15 tire up front since the weight will be shifted back you will be losing traction to begin with, rear tires may not be as important because more weight will be on them.

i used my ex gielfriends ek9 for a sprint event at RAF barkston heath. lightly modded, uprated suspension and brakes, slightly lighter than stock car and on bridgstone grid II tyres. the car was quite simply AMAZING!!! punched well abive its weight. at the end of the day i had posted faster times than a e46 m3, 2 caterhams and an ep3 type R to name just a few.

you will have so much fun in what ever car you are in so just give it a go in what ever you want to. at the end of the day that what its all about!

what about an old VT or a eg6 they are much cheaper nice and light 2. like said get the 4.9 final drive good tyres and u will be all the road

Thanks is the EG6 the 160bhp 1.6 vtec ???

Made upto a X reg ???

Thanks

I would recommend if possible, get a 1990 civic and fit in it a b18c engine from a dc2. fit in it the dc2 brakes and suspension and you should be rocketing away. the civic has much less weight than the integra and the extra displacement will help you alot in the corners. can't you make any extra mods such as intake kit or manifolds?

i think the eg was just made up to N plate. but get the sir2 cos it comes with a LSD the same as the ek9. and they have 168bhp good little cars. my mate had one and it was faster than my other 2 mates that have ek9's. and u will pick one up for about £3000-4000 for a good one

My mate has a del sol sir and up against my old e30 325i it was exactly the same speed. More or less identical 1/4 times. Just a pain to get the 325i off the line so he pulled away a bit if I got it wrong ! Do they do the civic with the same engine then? What would a I'm spec vti be like around x reg

What would i Civic 4dr 1.8 vti be like ?
2000 x reg ?

Handling/perfomance wise would it be worth while looking at?

There cheap compared to any other quick honda!
