Reputation thread, http://www.ek9.org/forum/reputation-center/61301-tahir.html#post689829
Price, £4750
Location is Bradford, West Yorkshire
Full advert is listed below. Have a good read through it, it's a very thorough advert.
Very reluctantly I am offering this stunning Honda Civic EF9 SiR for sale. It’s the early SiR 1. It is a sunroof model. Been in this country just over 3 years. I have fully restored the car, there is hardly anything I haven’t changed on the car. So many days and late nights of blood and sweat gone into it.
Spec list:
Honda Civic SiR (1990 G Reg)
Mileage just short of 120000 km (74500 miles)
Sunroof Model
SiR spoiler with 3rd brake light
PAS and EW
11 months MOT
6 months Tax
Interior:
Original EF9 interior
Rear lap belts
EF8 floor mats
JVC door speakers
Dash mat
SiR cluster still reading in KM
Bright LED interior light
OEM space saver and tool kit
I’ve basically sourced and refitted a complete EF9 interior back into this car. Seats came out of my other EF9. I’ve fitted a VGC carpet. Plastics came from Gizmo (I think), new heater controls, new cluster surround (old one had holes), OEM space saver and tool kit from my mates EF8, parcel shelf from a VT (same as SiR), new handbrake fitted as old one had this stupid drift button mechanism, drivers electric window never worked, so we found the break in the big plug that goes into the door and re-pinned it, brake light switch was broken above the pedal so I fitted a working one, fitted a boot carpet, replaced the broken Razo gear knob for a nice OEM one etc. Sourced some proper JDM EF9 sun visors. The interior is now a very nice place to be in.
Brakes:
Fully rebuilt and painted front EK9 calipers (carriers machined to fit wider discs)
282mm 4x100 EBC vented discs
Fully rebuilt and painted rear EF9 calipers
242mm 4x100 ADL discs
Brand new front and rear ADL Blueprint Pads
Comma DOT 4 fluid change, whole system flushed and system re-bled
Basically the braking system on the car is as new, no sticky calipers, new discs and pads all round. The bigger brakes on such a light car really makes a world of a difference.
Wheels:
Racing Sparco NS2
15x6.5j ET42
Wheels shot blasted and powder coated by CAS Coatings in dark grey
Centre caps powder coated cherry red
Racing Sparco Decals applied
New proper Sparco style steel wheel nuts in black with key
Front tyres 195-50-R15 Falken 912 with 6mm tread left
Rear tyres 195-50-R15 Uniroyal Rainsport 2 with 3mm left
Correct size spigot rings fitted, wheel centres perfectly
All 4 wheels balanced
Zero kerbings or marks on wheels
Clear the front brakes with lots of space
Engine:
JDM B16A Original EF9 engine (Gen 1)
Y2 Gearbox (crunch/whine free)
Repainted wrinkle black rocker cover
Gen 2 inlet manifold and throttle body
Polished fuel rail
New Honda water pump
New Honda timing belt and tensioner
New Tegiwa thermal intake and throttle body gaskets
New Honda rocker cover gasket
New NGK spark plugs
New Honda distributor cap and rotor arm
New Honda exhaust manifold gasket
New Hamp short oil filter
New Honda cam end seal
New Dayco PAS belt
New Honda Thermostat
Brand new Bosch Silver top battery fitted a few days ago, still have receipt with 3 years warranty
Used but as new condition engine mounts fitted
98 Spec JDM ITR 4-1 Exhaust manifold
SRS G55 manifold back exhaust system (60mm with 63.5mm manifold flange, bung included)
Management converted to ODB1 using conversion harness, TD44U distributor and 4 wire O2 sensor
P30 ECU (UKDM)
Stock EF9 Airbox with K&N panel filter
Tegiwa dual core aluminium radiator
EK9 Throttle cable with bracket
Tegiwa Brake master cylinder stopper
Drive shafts rebuilt with new inner CV bearings
Replacement power steering rack fitted since old one was still leaking after rack end boot change
A/C removed, but pipes still coming out of bulkhead in case you wanted to refit
Engine is one of the best I’ve driven, doesn’t smoke at all and hasn’t used any oil in the 1200km I’ve done in it. Even after this mileage the oil is still golden. Gearbox is a stock Y2, it has no crunches or whining at any revs. It has a fresh change of Landrover MTF94 gear oil in there.
The header is the very sought after JDM ITR 4-1 which is pretty much on a par with the Toda header, it has a 2.5” collector and the exhaust has been altered to suit this. The exhaust is very loud, reminds me of my 5Zigen Fireball, but with the bung it goes very quiet.
Injector loom extended and tucked (soldered), fusebox relocated to rear sub frame, resistor box relocated to sub frame, loom relocated from shocker tops to rear of engine. Engine bay is all original, and albeit not repainted has come up very well after a few hours spent on it. I’ve not gone mad with the tucking, I’ve just used my imagination and it looks very clean.
Suspension:
GAZ coilovers (damping and height adjustable)
Lock rings nice and free
Front upper strut brace (unknown make)
Rear lower strut brace (unknown make)
New rear trailing arms fitted with new bushes
Full 4 wheel alignment carried out by ATS in Bradford, front and rear toe adjusted to 0
Exterior:
Whole car painted inside out in Barcelona Green (G66P)
Original arches professionally rolled in Japan (zero rust)
Original sills (zero rust)
Removed rear wiper and bunged hole
Removed aerial and replaced with OEM blanking plate
Side skirts repainted satin black
OEM front and rear lips fitted
12x6 front number plate (USDM size)
13x7 rear number plate (JDM size)
New windscreen and seal fitted by Autoglass
All glass changed for UKDM glass (blue tint)
Headlights wet sanded 1500 and buffed using G3, aims set on MOT test
Aftermarket Alpha horns
VGC replacement arch liners fitted
New clips and scrivets on arch liners and side skirts
Honda Jazz washer jets (spray a mist)
Complete car from underneath including sills, inner arches, behind front wings, front panel, front wheel wells, fuel tank, boot floor, chassis rails etc scrubbed with wire brush, washed, dried and then caked in Hammerite under body seal, 2 litres in total put on car. Car fully protected from the elements and absolutely zero rust on the car.
Full car glazed with Poorboys Black Hole, waxed with Dodo Juice Blue Velvet and sealed with Diamond Brite paint sealant. Car always washed using 2 bucket method using a micro fibre mitt.
The only 2 downsides I can think of is some of the fabric is torn on the drivers bolster, I've been quoted £40 to have this re-done by a local upholsterer, also the rear shock top bushes can be a bit squeeky, I have brand new Energy ones I can include in the sale or I will replace these if I get some time.
This car is ready to drive away, I would love it to go to a fellow enthusiast. Apart from the above, it needs nothing, just driving and enjoying.
I am based in Bradford, West Yorkshire.
There is a full build up of it over on 4GUK • Index page
Considering an average condition EF9 costs £5k+ to import these days, I would like to offer you this one for £5000.
Some arty shots!
