Hi guys i'm Nick and i've got a 1998 honda civic EJ9(D14a4)

In the end i said i would stick with the little 1.4 engine and give it a go.I love to do something different and this little engine has great engine dynamics.

Target goal is set at 160hp at the crank, powerband between 5500-7500rpm with a max. of 8000rpm.The tranny is shorter then a B16a2 tranny and longer then a B18c tranny also equiped with LSD (Mfactory). This should help keep the revs up and keep that engine in it's high powerband.A heat exchanger from a D16a9 (Crx) will also be installed to heat up the oil more rapidly and cool the oil too .

Here are some facts from the stock D14 engine

Bore: 75mm
Stroke: 79mm
Displacement: 1396cc
Rod to stroke ratio: 1,74 :1 !!
Rod length: 138mm c-c
Piston compression height: 29.5mm
Piston dish: -5.4cc
Stock compression ratio: 9.1 :1
Stock hp: 90 at the crank
Stock torque: 124Nm
Stock rev limit: 7000rpm

very nice !!
i like custom parts cheaper and sometimes more effective!:nice:

wow! you seem like a really skilled person. i wouldnt have the patience to fabricate things like you have.
i have the same engine and was wondering how you got your car to idle properly with the z6 intake mani fitted. Ive tried everything i can think of. im using the d14a4 throttle body by the way.
thanks for any help and im sorry for hi-jacking your thread.

Thx guys ,i've added a few pictures of my car in the first post.I also got a thread in the new users topic that has more pictures of my car.

@Fatboi most likely you got a vacuum leak somewhere.
Most commen thing to do is turn the Throttle body gasket upside down.
Check all the gaskets and replace them if needed.
Clean out the IACV with carb cleaner if needed, also clean out the TB and idle screw.Idle screw needs to be fully turned in and then 2 full turns turned out.

@ Other guys i can't reply Pm's just yet ,cause i'm just registered here and i need a certain amount of post to do that.

If you need to know anything about doing a Obd1 conversion ,Intake manifold swap or a Mini me on a D14 .Check out Dodo Upgrades
He's the originator of the mini me's on the D14a4-D14a3 engines.
There's also a forum there where you can ask questions or find more info
i'm on there as well .

I think that for the cooltank you took tha hard way, will you put a turbo ???

Nope i made it like that because of my Bisimoto header.
It needs to sit in front of the header so i wanted to place the tank as far away as possible from the heat of the header. My Electric power steering pump sits on the place where my original coolant tank would be.

Got some new parts in

Stack Oil pressure and Oil temp meters thx to DemonTweeks

And a JDM EK3 Vti cluster .Fits great on my EJ9 with a 8000rpm rev limit :)

I also have some OMI Performance high compression valves ,and a Mfactory LSD on the way that still is in the customs department. ;-)

Ahh those are for the 4wire lambda sensor. You can re-use 1 wire from the original lambda the white one and you need to add 3 extra wires.

IGP2 is connected to the B connector (16pins)
SG2 is connected to the Dconnector (22pins)

You can see where they need to go exactly on the Obd1 pinout sheme on Dodo's website.

Yes i seen that..but...the obd2a d14 harness has igp2 and sg2 on the stock ecu..so i have 2 wire's with igp2 and 2 wire's with sg2..should i add them together (old igp2 with new igp2 and old sg2 with new sg2) ? It's making me crazy..

I think the D14 allready uses 2 igp's and 2 Sg2's and you need to hook up a 3th for the 4wire lambda by splitting the Sg2 and igp2 wires. This got me confused here for a while too .I actually never thought about further ,but my engine harnass works fine, so i think it works like this.
