16 will give you better grip more ground clearance and less arch gap

^ so why do they come standardly with 15s then if they have better grip, and why do people still use 15s apart from the difference in price

Better traction under hard accelerating and braking...

That's like saying why does a car come standard with mediocre tyres when it could could come with a set of semi slicks, or why does it not come with adjustable coilovers etc, totally irrelevant. The only reason I ever used 15"s over 16"s was cost of tyres. Car manufacturers have to think of costs aswell as the level of comfort etc
16"s look better and handle better IMO

16s will be heavier than the equivalent 15. Heavier is bad in every way imaginable.

Tyre's may well weigh less, tyres can usually weigh more than the wheels and a high profile 15" tyre will not be very light, 16" wheels of the same width will have a lower profile and probably lighter weight tyre. Weight alone is not the only true factor at least not where acceleration is concerned as where The weight is located I.e. how far out from the centre of rotation will affect it's inertia.

Would be interesting to get some actual wheel weights with tyres fitted

Also as above the honda stock engines are not very touque so its hard for the car to pick up speed on 16s

I only run 16s because of my brakes, no ill affect to running them from what i can tell, handle's beautifully, car picks up speed fine with no problem at all. only down side is cost of tyres.

Only real way to find out is if someone did back to back testing

the only downside that i noticed when i used 16's over 15's was the bloody price of tyres! lol

This is only my opinion but I've been lucky enough to try 14" 15" 16" and 17".
all of them on civic's... EG's and EK's
IMO light weight 15" wheels with the right offset would be the ones to go for ...
Asthetically: IMO 15" again with the correct offset looks the best... If you are worried about arch gap, simply lower it.

As for which has more Grip. Opinions will not tell you this..
you'd need to find someone who tested the different size wheels on the same car with all the correct equipment, I.E a lateral G force meter..

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but if you watch some of the face off videos, nost of the tuners run 17" semi slicks at the front and 16"s at the back must be good somewhere?
