i miss my old ek9 so so much, the handling and drive with superb, just seemed like such a fun and nimble car!

do the uk members think the prices will drop considerably for the 97 models next year as the sva tests etc won't be needed? could import some tasty modified ones then.

wish i kept mine now

wouldn't mind one as a runabout

So just to confirm, this guy has owned a JDM EP3 and a Nissan 350Z and still wants an EK9?

Good lad:D Those wheels suit the EK9 better than any other wheel btw.

Re: the SVA thing: is it 10 years when it isn't required? so that'd mean the value of my 2000 W reg will drop in 3 years?

yeah, well, technically i had a mk4 astra gsi turbo but i won't count that

the 350z is good, comfy, you know just a big ass posing coupe with some good power, but the ek9 was sooooooo much fun.

yeah 10 years for sva tests, means its cheaper as the car doesn't need to be converted to mph, or have a model report, just needs a foglight and registered and mot. it'll only cost £500-£1000 less all in, but it means alot more cars will start coming in making the whole thing cheaper. it might even have a knock on effect on later models :(

I remember seeing that ek9 for sale on the TGTT Forum a while back. Think it was one of your mates that posted it up on there dude. Looked mint:nice:. So the calling for another one is pretty strong then lol

yeah my mate posted it up on there, a local lad i met randomly ended up buying it.

i didnt sell it cos there was anything wrong with it, just fancied a newer car, mine was a cracker, i reckon it had been stroked as it was running over 200bhp and had a dc2 ecu also :)

Yea mate your old one had defo been stroked running the power and torque it did:nice:,cant resist another ek9 then mate :drive:

GET IT! I want another one! hehehe but stock one for daily drive, but LHD. :(

I think when you buy a car you have got to forget about the resale value
some times because its life you do loose money on car's but you don't buy for that reason, you buy the car because you like it and enjoy driving it just like martin thats why he wants another EK9

I can only imagine what you are feeling now about giving up your EK9 and wanting one again.

I was in a savage mood and going crazy when I realised what a mistake I made when I sold me EK4.

As for the SVA testing issue next year...I'm not sure....I doubt many people will import one themselves, but I also don't think there will be a huge increase in the numbers imported.

And you know what our goverment is like...they will try and impose some silly ruling that a 97 spec EK9 still has to be SVA'd because the model report covers 96 - 98 (99) spec, so cannot be sure it is not different from a later model.

Good luck finding a nice one if you do decide to get one again tho! ;)

But I dunno...I am not tottally clued up on SVA rulings etc....

you can currently sva a 1997 ek9 as the rule is 10years or older without a model report, all you need is to do is MOT it (fog light), fit a cat 2 immobiliser fill v55 form insure it and register it with DVLA with all the docs from japan.

The mph conversion can be done at a later stage as well as fitting the correct bulbs.

So next year all the 1998 ek9s wont need an sva depending on the month they rolled out the factory. i.e 1998 march ek9 you can register without sva in March 2008

talking £500 -£1000 to get in on the road as Martin explained earlier

sold the EK9 & then the EP3 cos is was not all that right! what r u currently driving now 'martin'..? :naughty:

i wish we drove rhd here... :nono: as i would def import one regardless of how much!

btw: ur EK9 looked good on those 16"... any more :pics: & what colour would u go for now!! gessing C/W again right?

I dont think the price will drop much for a '97 model as they can already be imported with the SVA being avoided, so if they were going to be plenty coming in at and sold at low prices, that will have already happened.
'98 models will probably be slightly cheaper, bear in mind though, if a car is no longer eligible for SVA, it may seem that it is definately going to be cheaper, but also there are then more people bidding on the cars in Japan, which can mean the cars auction price rises too.

And yes, can import some tasty modified ones then too...but I've already done that with a turbo Nov '97 EK9 that I have for sale:D

as stated before by sb,there are more people trying to buy the earlier 97 cars
to avoid the test,so they are still holding reasonable money.if say you bought a 98 ek9 and say it was first registered in january, you would have to wait until the first of february to register it,my old car was a supercharged 97 ek9 it was first registered in november 97 so it could'nt be registered until the 1st of december .
all thats needed to get it on the road is a fog light,no other conversion stuff and its not actually required to have an immobiliser ,although you would get one for insurance purposes.

you did say you wanted more pics :drive:

Did you sell that to a guy from down south?

Remember one with YTF on the end of the plate. Pretty sure it's that one.

But then again...I think it had standard wheels on it too.

Still...Nice example. ;)

i sold the car with original wheels on it, but to a local guy.

YTF is common, most of duncan's cars end up like that.

my old car was a supercharged 97 ek9 it was first registered in november 97 so it could'nt be registered until the 1st of december .
Did you give it a try in November? I know DVLA aren't the most consistent of people but my local wouldn't object to that.

i sold it to a local guy,its on the road now mate, had a funny one today at the dvla office though,i have a 94 sir and they were going to register it on a p plate instead of an L,HA HA LOL,I should have kept my mouth shut but told them that this shape civic does'nt come on a p reg,i would have had the only eg6 sir in the uk on a p reg lofl...seems they thought it was a 97 or so they said, they had to do it all again whilst i waited, they could surely offer an over the counter registration service instead of taking up to 72 hours...only took 10 mins to do it again...
