hey,

I know lots of people have done it on here so after some information please :)

Just wondering how this works, what costs are involved etc.

Especially from those that have done it.

There are some nice car's over there at nice prices...

i have searched and it didn't bring anything up about this. so sorry if been covered before.

I have bought a few cars from Ireland over the years.

If it's from NI then it's just the same as buying a car from the mainland, fly over and catch a ferry back but does take a the best part of the day.

ROI cars need to be registered here with the DVLA. Not sure on exact costs but it's not much.

Best getting member or likes to check out potential cars as there is a lot of "rough" examples to sieve out.
Yes there are some good examples but getting fewer as most of the imports where brought in fair few years ago so not fresh imports as such.

Registration fee ain't much as said already so your travel costs just need to be added.

Travel
MOT
Registration
Rear fog light

That's about it.
In the process currently having moved to the UK two years ago.
Relatively low cost other than boat.

Buying a car from Ireland, you'll probably need to Insure the car on its VIN plate number, once back home take it to an MOT centre. then you take the certificate and all the documents you have for the car to a DVLA office. There is a registration fee and you can pay for the TAX. then they send you out the new registration document and your tax disc. you may need get a new registration number on the car also, but can do that at the same time as the other stuff.
