Hi

Have a look at custom cage's website I am sure they show you a how to guide, I think you cut holes in the floor and drop the cage down then weld the tops of the cage put the cage into place then weld up the holes in the floor.

Tou don't need to do this on the civic, because the top of the seal where the cage sits is a good 7 inches off the floor.
I just fitted the clubman(msa spec) cage to my car and it was a pita. Plenty of pitfalls and things you can get wrong.
My advice is let someone else do it.

On all the good weld-in cages that I've seen, the main rollover hoop and front bars are made 4 or 5" shorter than the height of the cabin so once they're welded together foot plate boxes are welded up to lift the cage up to the right height. This is the main and front foot plates in mine....

Also a good place for your outer harness eyelet backing plates to go :secret:

i would use a sparco cage for starters, custom cages are terrible fits and i mean terrible.
the sparco cage comes in two halves and the main hoop is already welded to the full rear pipes, you just need to pop it in and add the front end.
even if you get a bolt in and weld it in, thats very acceptiable

Just get a custom cage made for your car locally, that's what we do with our rally cars... Most people add extra bars to cages now a days for rallying anyway..

Cage fitting is not something to take on too lightly! Some of the horror stories i have seen and been asked to fix are shocking....
A cage isn't just a manditory requirement for racing, it's the ONLY thing that will let you walk out of a yoke and to work on Monday morning after a big off, and at the end of the day that's what it is all about!

I have forgotten how many custom cages I have fitted to civics, they are a very good fit but the starting positions of the tubes for the critical few is very important.
You can take the roof skin off but it's not worth the effort in my opinion, dropping the main hoop and front stays off the foot plates and though the floor will be enough to weld all the way around the top tubes
