I need some info trying to decide on the right intake manifold for my engine. Engine is a JDM B18C spec R. CR 11:6, 4-2-1 exhaust mani, HKS suction kit, OMNI 70mm TB and toda B`s. Will be targeting powerband lower to mid revs. In schedule is a 89mm crank and 82.5 pistons after i gather some more money with a CR 12+. I`ve contacted skunk 2,edelbrock and endyn to hear what they suggest about their intakes cooperating with my setup. S2 said their pro series will be spot on, endyn said i`d be better of with S2 and edelbrock never got back to me.

Has anyone any experience with these manifolds? What i`m thinking moreover is, using the TB and intake manifold before i install cams etc (because i can`t wait :p). In theory i would gain some power, according to the S2 plot that shows gains up to 18hp and 15lb/ft compared to a B16A manifold.

Skunk2 Racing: 1990-01 LS/RS(B18A-B)

skunk2 pro series is a good manifold, its what i run :nice:

Agreed its 1 of the best off the shelf manifolds ive used/tested and its well priced.

Also the Edelbrock Performer x how ever it falls very flat after about 8500rpm. Great id range though, SkoopEK9 has one on his B18c atm in his ek9 and even on a pretty muc stock set up the midrange was very good torque was up as well.

Downside of the Edelbrock is as its so large a few bits on the bulkhead will need to be re-positioned as they will touch.

Have you had a look at magnus motorsport? looks like some pretty serious stuff! :nice:

Well it is there street unit, they have the victor x for people looking to make power past 8500, have you seen how high up the power can be taken with the skunk unit?

For that price i would look into Endyn instead...

Quick gullible question: will the OEM gasket fit the S2 manifold or i would have to either make one myself or cut the OEM one to match the new manifold?

is the skunk2 mani not a near on identical copy of an ITR manifold, I have a SK2 on my B18C and it seems the very same.

Obviously it allows for bigger TB's but apart from that I cant see how its better than ITR.

The previous model they made was very close to the OEM manifold. Their newest manifold makes 22% power over their previous design. Has 8" tapered and more long runners, bigger plenum and over sized TB opening. The stock manifold is a great manifold, but it can always be outperformed by an after market one. It`s a 20+ year design now.

Ah did not know they had brought out a new model, good info :nice:

unfortuantely i think mine is the older one haha

unfortunately i think mine is the older one haha

numbers are numbers and manufacturers will always make things look better than they actually are. Any feedback on the gasket issue anyone?

I wont say s2 pro series is the best one...There are better manis but they cost ~1k usd :X It is quite good for price/result. Older one is pointless since it is Type-R like (the same like blox)

Anyway i would recommend you to port your mani and raise mani inlet to ~70mm (i know s2 pro serie is something around 64mm)

Oh and please dont beleave to 18ps gain on 1.6 :D

Good luck

i think oem gasket can fit s2 intakes are almost same to itr's.
why not try a hondata heatshield gasket ?
you can ask hondata to be sure if s2 manifold can match with their gasket too.

Some update: Got this installed along with the OMNI 70mm TB (thanx Blinx). Used OEM intake gasket that needed cutting to match exactly the ports on the manifold, and while at it gave the IACV a good clean! Didn`t make much of a difference really, part from the sick sucking noise the air filter acquired while in idle:drool:

Two days later the car begun to feel more alive in the mid range. On the third day i installed the HKS suction kit i got off jimbob (great guy/seller), and modified it and turned it into short ram air. Now, mark here that i`m the type of person who is very skeptical when it comes to gains from light mods like these with no tune, BUT my engine had transformed into a filthy beast past 6000 rpm`s!!! I even drove with the music very loud combined with ear plugs to make sure i wasn`t being mislead by the more noise the car was making, and still felt it actually pulls really hard! My 4th gear doesn`t stop nowhere and pulls really-really good!!

I never would expect such noticeable gains with no tune. I only had the TB and intake installed because i had a buyer on standby. Next steps are heat shield, air feed from bumper, and when the head comes off to install toda`s, port match the intake mani and TB to 70mm.
