I just wanted to make an intake Poll (Well sort of)

Ive read countless threads on US forums about stock intakes v short ram v CAI etc.
But what are you guys on this forum using i.e:

Stock/air box
short ram
CAI
Mugen style enlosed

Which of the above dyou use and how dyou find your setup?

Thanks:nice:

when i was NA i used a short ram with a velocity stack. ive also used cole airs in the past.

Honda Tuning did a Dyno Test on different versions of " Air Intake Systems " and to their surprise the SRI made power down low! But CAI made more power in higher revs. They also made 3 Intake systems out of different materials and 1 actually made more power then to others 14 HP. IIRC but the test was on a Flywheel Dyno not @ the Wheels!! It was made of ABS Piping with a 2L bottle taped to the end of it! UGLY but very affective!!! I wouldn't try it myself on the street but the Drag Strip maybe!

I'll go for the CAI :) More cold air = :woot:

BTW I added a poll to this post! :)

A well engineered short ram with unresticted, isolated cold air source is your best bet.

I have the comptech intake (same principles of design as mugen intake) and it has velocity stacks on the air opening and inside the filter as with the bpinitiatives product.:nice:
"Well engineered" is my way lazy way of saying "it has to have smooth bends, tubing that doesnt absorb heat, large filter area, velocity stacks, and cold air pipe to the filter that is larger than the pipe going to the TB."
Both the mugen and the comptech intake utilize all these principles, but the comptech one is less than half the price.:D

What does the Ice box sound like, and what sort of gains did you get/notice?

ps Thanks rvm for making it into a proper poll:)

I've voted cai as I've got that on mine, plus I used a aem v2 cai no my old vti also :)

I think it sounds like any cold air intake, some more throaty noise than stock and an almost unnoticable vacuum cleaner noise at idle.
Before, I had an aftermarket short ram and I didn't notice much initially, but the ice box's cold air supply makes it consistent in power after the engine bay gets hot.
-On a side note, comptech recently went out of business.:(

Does the arc really make more power than the mugen? i cant find much info on the arc induction box as this is one of my 3 choices along with oem aibox with drop in and gruppe m

I havent seen dyno's to prove it, but with an open hood dyno test with fresh air, the ARC may make more power than the mugen. But think about which one is going to be making more power once the engine bay gets hot. Unless you can feed the ARC cold air, then its not going to be at full potential.
