i agree wif blinx and dino, cant get better than SRI + cold air.

mugen is stil a bit restrictive but consistant.

dino, can u post a pic of ur ice box pls?

Honda Tuning did a Dyno Test on different versions of " Air Intake Systems " and to their surprise the SRI made power down low! But CAI made more power in higher revs

tat might be becoz of the hot air the sri was intaking. add cold air to it and u get power everywhere :)

What cai do you use now mate, and how did you rate the v2?

Its a hks racing suction one, but i really loved the v2, not to sure on the gains as i never had dyno'd. It defo felt a little quicker, also loved the sound!

Most short rams are crap as they suffer from heat soak and the intake temps are way to high for n/a engines i recently ran my ek9 on the rollers with a enclosed itg carbon air box and it ran a constant intake temp of 18 degrees c my friend ran his ek9 after mine with a j's racing intake (open cone) and his intake temperatures was a constant 38.5 degrees c:shocked: big power sappers if you ask me ,heat shield or no heat sheild they are garbage lol

What you just said doesn't justify anything about an intake setup... thats only justifying that hotter air temps reduce power... which is correct!:nice:

first you've got to understand some products are for road use and some are for track use. All racers that use SRI never let the engine suck up hot air, thats why they feed cold air into it. Some even remove the right side headlight so that cold air rushes straight into the pod filter. It depends on your setup and most people just buy SRI without thinking any further than installing it, thats why they dont have a good reputation... euthusiasts would understand this... otherwise SRI would have extincted by now.

The fact is SRI will always perform better than a CAI providing they both suck in the same air temps.:nice:

So don't go buying a SRI if you don't plan to do any further modifications to bring cold air into it. Buy a CAI so you don't have to worry about it and get more consistancy in power. I don't know how many times I've covered this point...:(

Free flowing exhuast + free flowing intake WITH cold air = Best setup!!

I've used CAI and SRI and SRI + cold air and SRI with cold air kicks butt and sounds good!!!

sri + cold air feed is exactly what the mugen intake is

i so want some dyno reviews to compare all these intakes as im still undecided as to what i wanna do, still very interested in the arc box as looks good but dont see many reviews

I just read the info on that link and I dont thingk that "velocity stack" is worth it.

It allows air to move smoother and faster when pulled through either the filter or the induction tube. This equates to more air filling the cylinder, hence more power. Mugen and comptech wouldn't integrate them into their top of the line intake systems if it wasn't worth it.
And to buy just the bpinitiatives velocity stack isn't even expensive.

LOL, you lot are going to take the piss out of me but i have added a fair few strategically placed 35mm diameter holes in the standard airbox with a spoon panel filter and am very happy with the results, i copied what my brother did on his vectra v6 which he gained 10bhp doing with rr before and after:bow:

Cutting off the bottom of the air box right underneath the filter is a common mod, along with a k&n panel filter. It turns your stock airbox into a short ram.

sorry to say but, arc is more for bling purpose, more weight, heatsoak and throttle response. A basic generic short ram intake would peform better.
