Jack's PY K20 EK9 now going K20/K24

Cool they seem to know they're stuff with the K series. If I remember I'll pop down for a mooch on the way to work.

Yeah come over. I'm hoping to be there for 8.30 depending on traffic

So nice,

How easy was the engine build then? Am i right in thinking that its just a k20 oil pump and block off an oil gallery on the bortom end?

I was thinking of the wrong oil port I'm going to have to take the sump off and plug it. Apparently the engine will have very low oil pressure if this isn't done :nerv:

good job you noticed

I've just finished doing it. A normal 10mm bolt fits in the threads. Here's a pic. I put some liquid gasket on the threads to make sure it sealed

Thanks for the pic. Cant wait to see the dyno printout after tuning

Thanks guys appreciation means alot :nice:. I swapped my insurance back over today from my van and Brent Acre never charged me for ugrading to k24. I'm covered up to 250bhp so they just said if its more let them know and they can adjust accordingly. I suppose they're not bothered about an extra 40ft/lb of torque across the rev range

A few weeks ago I went to JP exhausts in Macclesfield to get my 3" exhaust made. I had them recommended by a friend so I thought I's see what they were like. When I got there the TDI North FN2 was already on the ramp next to me so that filled me with confidence. The lad who I dealt with was called Will and he said TDI are leaving a DC5 and an EP3 with them so they can make a jig and TDI will sell they're own 3" systems made by these guys. I asked if he could get it under 100db for track use and he said he would give it a go. The final reading came out at 97db so I was very happy with that!

Finally I asked him to make me a turn down for the tip just for trackdays. I don't like the Toda design so I wanted to be able to take it off.

I would recommend JP fabrications to everyone, especially in the North as it saves a trip to London to go to solid fab. They were great to deal with!

Out of interest mate, how much do they charge for a custom exhaust? I'm after one and don't want to pay branded prices

This exhaust was £650 but they had it for 2 days and it took longer to get right due to there being less room with the 3" piping. Yeah its great I'm really pleased with it :D

one of the best builds in my mind good job mate and keep it up will be looking out till its complet :p

Great update, not far from me really (im in merseyside ish)

So when i want a 3" system should i go straight to them and cut out the middle man?

Is it tuned now?

Yeah go straight to them. They're excellent to deal with. No its off the road again unfortunately because the main shaft bearing has gone in the gearbox. I'm taking it to Grinspeed tomorrow to get new bearings and mfactory carbon synchros 1-6 fitted. So i'll be putting it back on the road in about March

May well pay them a visit, my tegs off the road now till next year too,

I wouldnt mind a gbox rebuild too but with a 5.46fd :)

A 5.46 would be insane. Mine sits at 4000rpm at 70 on the motorway with the 5.06 but that's with 15" wheels and 50 profile tyres. And thanks mate i've tried to do it all properly
