JDM EK9 Race car project nearing completion

Cars plate doesn't match car. What gives?
I'm another kiwi. Looking to get a civic type R. What part of NZ you from?

I purchased the plate for this car, but this car is no longer road registered (full time race car) so the plate is still under my project Accord (which is off the road as well).

When I can be bothered I'll get new plates for the Accord, so the plates will belong on the EK9 instead. A bit of anti theft too, as the plates won't exist any more.

Mind you any one can follow me home I guess, but if they can get through my front gate, past the BIG bull mastiff, through the house and into the garage (I'll get a text as soon as they are in there), unlock the garage door, get the car out and on to the trailer (which is stored under lock and key as well), all the while remaining invisible to the alarm system and cctv, they deserve to have it!

I'm in Auckland by the way ;)

Get an EK9, you'll love it!!!

Turbo? If it's a racecar keep the compression on the higher side since you will be using race gas ;) It will keep the car very responsive :) 400bhp is fairly low in terms of turbo racecar, should be plenty reliable with the proper build/fuel/cooling.

I know what you're saying Blinx but race gas is a no-no. All motorsport will be changing (in New Zealand at any rate) to bio fuels over the next year or so, so pump gas will be much easier to get if the motor holds together for more than a day

It's not a real serious attempt at build a long lasting turbo motor, more of a "lets try the aerodynamics and cornering with 400hp" kinda thing.

There's a guy with the whole setup sitting in his garage (he started building a turbo B16a but never really started if you get my drift) so its still mostly in pieces. Can probably be bought for next to nothing, so we thought why not?

Do it!!!!!! Biofuel? Is that like Ethanol? We have that here in the USA, iirc its octane rating is about 98 so its pretty good for turbo setup ;) But you need much larger injectors as it has less energy per volume :(

Our premium pump gas here is 98 octane bro ;)

Love the video mate! And what a car!!!

Thanks mate :)

Unfortunately last time out the left hand inner CV let go so I have to change it before I get out there again.

Car is going great though, so easy to drive!

I'll try and get some pics of my good friends car, three of us will be racing it in endurance racing next year (yes, planning ahead) in the NZ endurance series.

It's one of the most tidy EK9s I've ever seen, and its a race car with a full homologated roll cage!

WIll be doing some minor work on my car too so the thread's not over by a long shot ;)

best thread of the forum, let us know if you ever want to sell any of your old race parts :naughty:

It's not over yet, not by a long shot ;)

Just bought something else. What it is I'll keep under wraps until I can show you pics, but lets just say its made from carbon and goes in the interior :p

Well not much from me with regards tyo progress on the car, although a CV and axle issue is well and truly sorted. Here was the result after a few laps of Hampton Downs:

That little "problem" needed a new axle, new CV cup, and whole bearing assembly, so while the box was out I decided to install the gear kit I had lying around for what seemed like ages!

Here's the video of one of the runs I had at the track, was a bit slower than my earlier runs due to bad fuel surge from a low fuel level, and sunstrike was pretty bad too.

Enjoy!

Yeah haven't done much with the parts yet, was a bit busy getting ready for the track.

There's a bit of cleaning up to be done before I show the world what I found ;)

I have read the whole thread over the past few days - Great project and brilliant car!

I have two wings, one is a D2 Aerodynamics wing for small downforce, and this one. It's a random wet carbon wing I got through one of my suppliers, it only cost me NZD350, or about 120 pounds sterling. To say we are spoilt here in New Zealand would seem to be an understatement!

Love this project!!! Have been drooling over that rear wing for months!!! What brand is it? Do you have a link for ordering it?

Plz share your 'spoils'!:thanks:
