hi mates i have a js carbon intake and i was thinking to change it for a cai AEM or Injen..
So i would like to know your opinions mates!Which type of intake do you think is better?
what is your advice?
thanks a lot!:)

i am interested to know this as well, i currently have ITG Maxogen with custom cold feed.
i am considering about AEM V2.

On my EP3 I had so many different inductions including the AEM V2 (although the ep3 1 sits in engine bay) & then went to ITG maxogen & it was so much better No more nasty heat soak. You may get the nice sound with open cone But enclosed carbon box is the way forward:nice:

On the EK9 I have the spoon direct air flow pipe & K&N panel filter & its perfect Lovely throttle responce & no heat lag :)

So basically I would say stock airbox with panel filter & resonators removed OR mugen/ITG
not a fan of open cone even the 1s that sit in bumper This is just my opnion though :)

i've had the aem v2 & cai on my ep3. the cai transformed that car!

i have also recently fitted the cai to my 9, i think its brilliant, but i didn't have a standard air box to compare with...

for sure the cai is better than a standard air box..

ep3 is a different car than ek4/9

Actually i had a j's intake for almost 1500km and at first i felt the car slower at hi rpms...
i made a cai feed for my j's the things was a lot better with heat soak.

when i changed for stock itr arm with m's supercleaner cone filter
the car became slower !!:nono:

no big gains at mid to high rpm range and i also noticed that i was not reving that fast as with j's !!
the only good was that i felt the vtec kicking harder than j's !

i never had a try with aem cai really im afraid of hydrolocking.
i suggest to keep your j's or buy a mugen cai intake or comptech one
for me these are better than aem.

best alrounder is stock system with decent panel filter and cold air feed imo or if you have the money mugen air box , the aem v2 is not suited to Uk/Ireland with all the wet weather we get it is bound to suck up water and hydrolock your engine i know of two people with ek9's that has happened too that had the v2

yes mate there is a problem with the wet weather.
I saw that the aem has dry filters doesn't work??

I know the ep3 is a different car But its still the same with induction I also own an EK4 & EK9 :D

And all 3 performed best with stock/enclosed intake rather than open cone Again its just my preference:nice:

Like baz ctr said stock/enclosed is a great all rounder for smoothness & performance

You could always fabricate a custom airbox for the J's and run an airfeed to it - best of both worlds, I definately wouldn't change mine!

aem's dry filters can't keep away water from your engine
they are very good with dust as oem while keeping the performance of a open filter.
aem made a bypass valve it's like a round sponge that is plased between the two pipes on v2 intake
aem says that cost performance -1hp
but i heard that is worthless and hydrolock is still there...
