Hey guys, I have recently purchased a '99 Honda Civic I was wondering (as it is stock ATM) if anyone had any cheap parts for me or any ideas you may have.
Thanks in advance.

I thought I would add a picture so you can at least see what my Civic looks like..

Spend nothing on it but maintenance, save for something better in a few years.

That's a good and hopefully reliable runaround. Don't waste money on it if you ask me.

And if you have to please don't get suckered in by the JDM parts thing - it's all an overpriced lie.

I agree with Lee
I spent a bit on mine like EK9 springs and shocks but that was only £80
But unless you're planning on swapping the engine i would save and get something thats just faster out of the box.
But it's your car and your money so if you want go crazy ;)

I was thinking of getting something faster but something about this car that made me buy it. It has got a reliable engine ATM so don't plan on an engine swap so I may only do the aesthetics until I have the money for a new engine or the one I've got packs up on me (which I hope doesn't happen), :thanks:.

to be honest i agree with the lads, no matter how much money you pour into this car it will never be an ek9!

Why is that so ? what is the big differences between like a ek3 and ek9 (besides brakes, engine, springs etc)

One often overlooked difference is the subframe, steering rack. Everyone's quick to talk about the engine/suspension/brakes.
Once modified with ek9 parts(all of them) I don't see there being any difference between the two.
No actual shell difference that I'm aware of? Maybe something around the rear suspension area?

Compare it with a Ferrari replica if you want. Even if you have 99% Ferrari original parts on it. It wont be like a real Ferrari...
Go get a Pizza from a real italian restaurant and then go get a frozen Pizza from Tesco. For someone who is no big pizzafan there is no difference maybe. But for a big pizzafan there is a big difference in taste and even in the flair in the italian location of the restaurant.
For some people it is a lifestyle and a passion to drive a japanese domestic market car. There is nothing else with the Ferrarifan, the Pizzafan, the Applefan, the PlayStation-fan, the horror-moviefan, the Picasso-fan and so on and so on... ;)

What tosh.
Honda did nothing to the ek to make the ek9 that you wouldnt do to any car to make it track focused. Not only that but most of these things could be developed further.

There is no intangible quality like with a 308 gto swb or something of that ilk.

You can build an ek9 spec car - just that it would be much more expensive than buying one, and it wouldnt say ek9 on the vin. So what?
