Were did u get that stiched gaiter for 9 pound can u send me the link :)

looks spot on, well done for fixing her up after the crash, must have been a horrible feeling sliding with no control:nerv:
also thumbs up on the camo lip:nice:

Thanks for all the nice comments guys I was lucky no one was hurt and I didnt hit anyone else so I thank god for that it could have been so much worse.

@ProjectJDM thanks im really glad you thought it was that clean there are alot of nice cars on this forum so im honoured that someone thinks my car is that good.

I'll probably drop the fibreglass bonnet for an OEM item when I have some money as the fitment isnt all that great.

@vti2010 and anyone else interested just dug out the ebay shop I went to:
THE TUNING-SHOP items - Get great deals on items on eBay.co.uk Shops!

@muris yeah it was horrible the whole thing sorta of happened in a time lapse photo I remember being sideways then looking at the tree thinking IM F***ed! and that was it.
December was a bad month for me for a variety of reasons including this. Glad people like the lip :)

Oh dear! I was so shocked to see the crash photo halfway through that little lot! Glad it all turned out fine tho.

I quite like the camo lip tho, think it suites the pre face pretty well. :))

Just read the entire 8 pages - like what you have done to the car as its a sensible mix of upgrades but still keeping it driveable to work / the shops everyday.

Me jealous? Never! :)

Hi Matt
Did you ever get to bottom of that gear box problem. I have never heard of that before. It is common for these to not go into reverse but usually just lift and press the clutch and they go straight in the second time.
What surround did you use for the gauges?
Dunx

where can i get one of those front lips i like it!

Its just the oem ek9 lip wrapped in a camo vinyl you should be able to get it from various places on the net if you fancy having a go yourself like I did.

unfortunatly not occasionally it takes a few attepts like u mentioned to get reverse but usually its ok. Its just odd occasions if you try and grab 3rd to fast it dosent like it. Its still one of the things id like to get done when I have the chance, but it was as good as gold at japfest so perhaps im making to much out of it.

The guages are just mounted in a basic ebay item that fits any single din slot was a german seller if I remember correctly but I dont think they are listed anymore. I shall try and look into it.

Thanks to everyone else for there comments im glad so many people out there like it :)

Ben you have summed up exactly what im aiming for thanks for taking the time to read it all.

Sorry to hear you stacked it, looks really cool with that camo lip, different!

Well guys it’s been a long time since I updated this and having seen all the cars at Japfest again this year and chatting to a few of you again I really think it’s well overdue so let’s begin:

When I last updated the tread I had just finished rebuilding the car time was looking tight and Japfest 2011 was looming along with the EK9.org trip to the Nurburgring, fortunately all went well and I managed to get out on track at Japfest to test everything.
Then it was off to the ring:

I had a great weekend with all the guys that went and I’m heading off again this year at the end of next month.
This well and truly had my track bug going and I was determined that I would make the most of the car as you never no what life has in store for you.
At the beginning of this year I took the opportunity to get some driver training in at Brands Hatch I only live 5minuites from the track and I’ve always wanted to drive it and when a friend planted the idea of going I went for it:

The tuition is well worth it its helped me a lot had great fun, but I know I still have a lot to learn.

Picked up a mugen 4-1 manifold from a friend and took a trip up to Santa Pod with another friend to give it a good testing :) I managed to do 25runs over the course of the day ill try to remember to dig out my time slip for the day but I managed to get some low 15second runs with full interior and a B16B with just breathing mods on road tyres so I’m pretty happy with that.

CLICK TO PLAY :)

However all was not well I noticed a funny knocking noise from the front right and upon closer inspection I found that one of the boots on my SPC camber arms had popped off and the ball joint was knackered from corrosion and dirt: Left had popped of right is correct (inside the left was all manky and rusty :(

However is didn’t end there after removing the arms to run OEM items while I replaced the ball joint I found a crack right through the arm on the other side both issues that StevenEK9 has had:

Needless to say I’m currently still running OEM items until I can find suitable replacements (not SPC I just don’t think cast Alloy can cope with the stresses in a suspension component).

In the quest for more grip I decided I wanted to get some dedicated track tyres, after missing out on a few good wheels I managed to pick up a set of Wedsport TC-05s in a perfect 15*7 ET31 at the front and 15*6.5ET30 for the rear:

Having done Brands I found that I was getting a lot of vibration from the brakes and found that OEM pads just couldn’t cut it on track so I purchased a new set of discs all round from freaky parts (top service by the way), and paired them with a set of EBC yellows for now (they may get upgraded in the future but for now I think it’s all I need:

Got a new rear badge as the old one had been bugging me a while, Old:

With Japfest 2012 fast approaching I decided to get some track time booked and test the car before my trip to the Nurburgring this year I managed to stretch the budget a bit a bought myself a set of Federal RSRs for my new wheels along with a set of Black nuts with the correct taper for them:

Here you can see just how much of a difference the wider wheels had this caused me a bit of a problem when it came to arch clearance,

so a call to Arch Enemy followed and I got the lips rolled back on my rear arches allowing me to run the wider wheels. :

Here’s how they look:

Just in time for Japfest:

I had a great weekend and all the upgrades made a massive difference I could push much harder in the corners and brake later allowing me to really have some fun and even get past some higher powered cars that weren’t so good in the corners.

Also nearly 3 years on im still finding these coins Ive been told they are actually Yen I have about 10p worth now haha:

Well if you’ve made it this far thanks for sticking with me hope you enjoyed the read. :)
