My EK9 has recently developed a horrible knocking sound coming from what sounds like the rear suspension, i've had a couple of people saying dampers and so on but, i don't know i'm thinking bush's, so it might be a trip to cirencester for some spoon goodies ie. bushings, and some progressive springs just because!!

Cheers Jam.

take off your rear wheels and have a look, if your damper is blown you should see oil all over it, check the bushings too, especially the traililng arm bushing (the big one).

I think maybe your damper is blown :(

agree with blinx and rvm.
also, push the 'blown' side down with pressure and pay attention to the way it progress back up.

good call by babyface..id go with bushes as a first port of call. as its the easier and cheaper option.lol.
blown damper will be easy to spot so just get a garage you trust to look at it

I had the same thing happen after I lowered the car on new coilovers, because I lowered the car the 2 1/2" exhaust would smash against the rear LCA. I first thought it was a blown shock.

my ek9 had a bad knock from the rear too, turned out to be the rear anti roll bar bushes, the garage called them horse shoe bushes, easy fix, could probably do it yourself it looked dead easy and to get to.

i ended up changing the trailing arm bushes thinking it was them, it wasnt :(

i had the exact same problem it dented my exhaust :(

you will be able to tell if it's your trailing arm bushes because if these start to go, when up to speed you will get some passive rear steering and the car won't feel very stable. if you aren't feeling this then as above, look into the ARB bushes and check out the dampers
