Thought I'd start my build thread on here while I've got a few minutes. My names Liam, from northfor those that don't know, this is my 5th civic and 4th build. A quick run down of my civic history

Started with a Adriatic blue Ej9 which ended up like this:

Replaced it with a VSM Ej9 Sport which also ended like this:

Replaced that with the longest civic I've owned to date:

But I wanted more power so I decided to move up to a Vti which turned out to be a massive mistake on my part. This is the Vti:

But the Vti had a horrible secret, seems that a previous owner had the arches patched over on the cheap to get rid of it. I've never seen such horrific rust on a civic.

So that left me with a choice, break and buy a different civic or build my own from ground up.

So I've bought this:

A fully rolling Ek9, just missing the motor.

So it's a little rough round the edges but there is no rust what so ever! Nothing at all so a perfect shell. I gave it a quick wash to see how dull the paint really is;

Turns out, it's really flat and dull plus it's scuffed and dented. So a full respray is happening very soon for it.

Plans engine wise, either the b16a2 from my vti or a C4 motor either with my racetech turbo kit bolted on and mapped by Will@RDT.

Liam.

Just looked back at them pictures and photobucket seems to have raped the quality.

I am swaying more towards the B18, but I'm in no rush, it's not going to be my daily driver so I'm not needing to just throw and engine in to get to work.

Anyway, so the other day I was just pottering about, I noticed there was a bit of a weird smell in the 9, I opened the ash tray and found this:

Nasssstyyy!!

Here is my guage set up also:

Ok so my motor turned up last week:

Obviously it's a c4 lol.

Then I bought this from Harv to make the front end look sick.

That's carbon fibre kids, it's all wrapped up to keep it free from damage while it waits to be bolted to the 9.

I'm ordering a edelbrock manifold from the states shortly, hopefully picking a S80 box up and some innovitive mounts from Mr Ramz too.

Over and out.

That was all around January/February last year, this post was around November time last year.
Well I better revive this from the dead and bring you all up to speed with where I'm at with the Ek9.

November last year a good friend of mine forced me to finish my car after I had accumulated all the parts required to finish and lost interest.

So it was dragged out to his workshop and work began!

A short while later, the engine and S80 box was together, along with the RPC stage 2 clutch and fitted to the bay:

The weekend was over but progress was made, that week after work we put a couple of late nights in and ended up with this:

Now was the moment I had been waiting for, 8 months in the making!

At this point a test drive was required to make sure everything was in order:

After everything was checked and double checked, a pair of wiper blades, front discs and pads it passed it's Mot after being off the road nearly 2 years without any advisories!

Then it was time for mapping, i gave myself a couple of weeks before mapping to make sure the clutch was bedded in properly and everything else was happy and issue free.

Mapping day arrived, me and the EK9 went over to see Will@RDT and the car ran perfectly all day, it made 311WHP, around 350-60 at the flywheel. Will was pleased, I was pleased and the car was pleased! Here's some videos of the final power pulls:

Here a final shot of the bay on a frosty morning:

Now that your up to date with what's been going on over the last few months, here's what's happened recently:

I had a play with a K20'd coupe (private road and all that jazz)

Very cool :) your screamer pipe is LOUD !!! haha, i got sick of mine on my starlet and had to get it plumbed in after a few months.

really nice power as well. Is it just a stock B18C4 ? obviously with Turbo etc and i saw the elderbrock manifold on there but is the engine itself standard

Yeah completely stock block, just the inlet that's different.

The screamer is getting plumbed into the down pipe in the next week or so, I don't want any hassle from the track marshals lol.

Very nice indeed :) I think you'll like the plumbed in sound better ;) rather than a sort of propeller sound it will just make your exhaust roar on boost :) i much prefer it

Whats the turbo etc?

It's a Td05 turbo, it's a racetech kit. The manifold isn't the best design but it works well enough.

I like the sound of the external gate but it's got to be quieter for some track action which is all I intend to use the car for.

Did Cadwell on Monday, had a great day out.

No issues to report other than a couple of nuts worked loose on the exhaust manifold and on the way home it seems to be puffing out big blue clouds.

Think I've cooked the stem seals.

Thanks mate. By no means is it a pretty car, it's rough and beat up really which is a shame. I'm terrible with saving money so trying to get the funds together for a respray is proveing difficult lol.

I'm toying with the idea of carbon front wings to match my bonnet too.

Nice build so far mate, built for purpose! I'm only in Worksop and have also got a boosted pre-facelift 9 lol.

Did another track day on Monday at Blyton, was a good day out only 15 cars turned up so there was plenty of clear track.

Only issues to report were a boost pipe blew out whilst stalking a 135 MSport.

Cars off the road now for a winter refresh, I'm not sure if I want to carry on with boost though, I have an itch for a K20. Not sure though.

So I've decided to stick with boost for now, I would miss the power.

I'm just going to concentrate on everything else for now, plans are:

Cage,
Different buckets
Harnesses
New meister r's
Sort the exhaust rattle out
Find replacement ball joints for my SPC arms
New rear rubber in the form of 595 RSRs

I'm planning on doing a few sprints next year and see how it fairs up. May even do the Cadwell Time Attack event. Anyway, we will see how I get on over winter.
