Hi, i'm looking to get a cat back system fitted i've heard pretty good things about longlife exhausts which are around my local area, what do you guys think ??

cheers

unless tehy have a mandrel bender i personally wouldnt bother...
where abouts are you from ?

Dont touch them i was thinking of getting one untill i found out they dont even have mandarell bends.

I think i was oli who said if u want one for show but dont care about performance then get one.

To be HONEST FOR THE £450 odd quid they quoted me for my custom 2.5 exhaust i could buy a spoon N1 and get a local fabricator to fab me up a 2.5 B-pipe.

Up to you m8 but i think you would be better off with a Mongoose or Janspeed if u cant shell out for a jap spec one.

If your any where near Watton Norfolk, I-tuned.com can make you a custom exhaust, any size and style.

i'm currently living in Wiltshire south west england, could some one hook me up with a link for a spoon/mugen exhaust system. What will i gain from a spoon/mugen compared to other exhaust manufacuters?.

cheers

i posted about this before i was thinking of getting the longlife exhaust as ive always had them but thought i better ask the experts first! After advice ive decided to go for the spoon n1 in a couple of months, longlife make a great noise and last forever but i don't really know about performance never really went in to it that far. I got mine done in berkley as well the guys name is tim think he's american really nice bloke.

Because these "custom" exhausts are just built onto your car with the customer choosing pipe diameter/number of silencers etc etc, they are not dyno-proven...

Also, because you are paying for a "technicians" time to fabricate the system they aren't overly cheap, & the quality depends on said "technicians" ability & workmanship...that is before you actually consider the quality of the stainless steel that is used & what is actually covered by all these "lifetime" guarantees...:nono:

These exhausts are suited to the type of owners who want 4 massive tailpipes or something else a la MAX POWER style IMO....For power & performance you really are best off sticking to proven brands....Mugen, Spoon etc etc...

They may be somewhat expensive, but you only get what you pay for. Tuning a N/A Honda engine EFFECTIVELY is not a cheap undertaking:)

I paid £450 + VAT for a custom stainless steel CAT back exhaust in 2003 with a lifetime guarantee - no idea what it would cost nowadays. The quality seems really good to me, but I'm sure it got a bit louder from mid last year. Found out a month after getting it that the CAT wouldn't quite fit as the bolt holes were slighter different to the CAT replacement. Phoned up, and they fixed it the next day at no charge despite having to remove the whole exhaust from the car.

I work for the Longlife in Amesbury and we do offer Maderall bends instead of pressure bends, Obviously there's a price difference but we do offer the choice... Also if you refer to the test Redline Magazine did with the difference between both bends there was 4bhp difference and that was on a 350bhp Subaru Impreza. :)

Everything here is also all custom fit stuff... We're featured in this months Redline Magazine in which we made them a fully custom Manifold for the Accord they have.

They're not getting good press at the moment though.

Prospeed in Cardiff is where I'm getting mine done, and thats a 250mile round trip for me, but I know for sure it will be amazing.
