hi,

i have an ek hatch, and i am wondering which to do, LS VTEC Turbo Vs B16A2 Turbo? i have an ITR LSD tranny that i can actually purchase with it.

thanks for all the coming comments and ideas.

cheers!:nice:

I'd go B16A2 Turbo with the ITR tranny. From what I've read thats a good set up as long as its tuned properly, etc. I'm a noob at turbo'n stuff so your best to wait on the Big guns replies! :) :)

ls/vtec if its gonna be a heavy car or plans for anything like a GT35R or larger.

which is easier to maintain and find parts for? which will have more hp and trq? they its a bit more difficult to maintain a ls vtec?

thanks

thats all relative and based on your mechanical skills and knowledge.

true again. blinx, are you running b16a2 turbo? i am thinking of following your footsteps or should i go for b18c5 98 spec n/a? is the dc2 good for turbo if i ever i get the money in the future?

I have a b16b head on a b16a block with b18a/b pistons :nice:

Well how much power are you after? If you want like 225whp that can be achieved n/a with reasonable cost. Now if you want 250+whp you can still achieve that n/a but the cost may become a bit unreasonable and it may become more reasonable at that point to consider turbocharging which can easily give 250whp-300whp on average with very low boost.

Is the dc2 good for turbo if i ever i get the money in the future?

Every car is a good candidate for turbo in my eyes :drive: honestly though the ITR would be a great candidate as long as you install a thicker head gasket and head studs. I actually feel more comfortable turbocharging a b18c than a b16b.

blinx.if you dont mind, why have that set up? b16b head over a b16a head, b16a bolck over b18a/b head?

can i achieve 300whp on a b16a2 turbo with oem internals?

my goal is to run ahead of the skylines.hehe.LOL

Because i'm crazy lol, j/k, honestly at the time i had no job and i had blown up my b16b engine, i had to get the car running with minimal cost but it still be somewhat reliable and fast which is normally not possible (cheap reliable and fast.). A good friend of mine gave me his blown b16a block for free, i ran the b18a/b pistons to lower the compression to what i wanted since the block needed new pistons anyway, my b16b head was still in great shape so all the parts went together and that was it :nice:

But there was a method to the madness, and i did have more technical reasons. The b16b head is better for a few reasons: The larger cams it has, the dual valve springs and minor port job. I chose the b16a block because I wanted to keep the 77.4mm stroke to keep piston side loading at high rpm to a minimum and have lower piston speeds since i was not using forged pistons and i have stock sleeves.

So yeah, it all came together for a few reasons, i had a theory, i had a budget and i was able to build what i wanted the best i could at the time.

Yes, just run a thicker headgasket to be safe and ARP head studs + good tuning and support mods.

As far as beating skylines it depends on which skyline and what mods it has, i'm sure you realize that.

ok.makes sense.i just saw this onlline, i dont know if they are any good.

+++so if this kit is good, what else do i need? FMU?tuning. boost controller?arp studs and cometic gaskets?lke the recommended injectors?fuel pumps?anything else?

thanks.

i hope i can make it 300whp.

r32s?skylines are pretty fast.and also put those domestics to shame.LOL.

its all good.

i am not sure if it is the treadstone kit.i just saw it on ebay. i thinks its just turbonetics turbo with some generic stuff in it. LOL. under a budget here, so i am thinking of cheaping out on parts that i can get away with and just spending on parts that i cant afford to cheap out. i hope i made sense.but i know you know what i mean.

cheers!

Well what is your budget for the whole lot? Remember you will need capable fuel and ems.

about the lowest i can for a turbo setup. that i can reach 300 to the wheel.

+++whats your thoughts on having itbs and turbo on a b16a2?

I'm sorry man, please don't be upset when i tell you this, but that statement means you are not ready to turbocharge your car and it would be best left NA.

Even though I have never owned a turbocharged car or attempted it on my own honda's I'm still a noob and dont know alot about the technical side. I may attempt one day!:nice: But from what you say above I would say think and investigate the idea more! If I was to go turbocharged on my honda I would be going all out on the money and parts side! Saving rakes of cash and buying the best of stuff! No slacking allowed when it comes to turbo'n or you will be in for trouble from the beginning! Think about it mate, not trying to put you off the idea. The exact opposite actually, just giving you sound advice!:nice:

ye man a turbo setup will set ye back alot of money if you want to do it properly would take any advice blinxx gives he knows his stuff when it comes to turbos

if i can keep the budget to 2-3000 CAD.with labor i hope and all the necessary parts. is that possible blinx? 300whp?rebuilt b16a2 (new rings, bearings, seals, gaskets) with itr lsd tranny, exedy stage 1 clutch and flywheel, 2.5 exhaust, decat.

thanks sir!

I don't think its possible with that budget. I think you should price everything out individually, that will give you a more realistic perspective on how much this whole adventure will really cost you.

so 2-3000 CAD just for the turbo setup wont be enough?

all the other stuff i already them.i am just asking about turboing.

thanks
