Hey Guys,

I'm looking to purchase a performance manifold and cat back exhaust system - remember i aint got a EK9 just an EK4 b16a2 so i dont know if yous have got any suggestions, i was looking at the J'sRacing 4-2-1 manifold but its £520.

Also i'm really unsure about what cat back system to get - i was thinking spoon but im not sure.

I'm going to keep the CAT on there so my car passes emmission test.

Also what sort of power gains am i looking at once these are fitted (in general)?

I would recommend mugen, spoon, apexi n1 cat back exaust system. Since your budget is not that high for your exaust manifold, 5zigen or dc sports is a good choice :woot:

May i suggest an oem ek9 exhaust system with d cat pipe and maybe if u can find one a itr 4-1 manifold..... nice sound and decent performance difference... cheap to. The exhaust has a larger diameter and has excellent flow rate and will bolt on....

my two cents:thanks:

the standard ek9 exhaust, just de cat and itr 98 spec stainless 4-1 manifold, i got the lot ex de cat for 360 euro!!!!! and a spare standard ek9 manifold, the itr is quiet low... its just cheaper is all,

if it's gains that you're looking for then you're best spending a bit more on a decent manifold. Something like a Toda/Spoon/Mugen will give the best gains from what i've heard

as for a cat back exhaust system it really comes down to what you think sounds/looks best as there is soo many available!!!!

I would also recommend this :nice:

I recommend the 5Zigen header(only 4-2-1 available) if what you want is midrange power. I bought it even though I had the money for a more expensive one like Toda because I was encouraged by many people to buy it. If however, you like spending insane money for a header just for the sake of brand's name and a slight better performance thats a different story. You can buy the 5Zigen manifold for around $500. You can also buy a $1000 Toda one for just a couple of horses more :( Don't get fooled by its price, this 5Zigen header gives excellent midrange torque!! :nice:

apexi n1 exuast is nice imo, anthing that has 60mm piping, dc sports is a good header but you can get a greddy header for the same price and the greddy is STAINLESS STEEL!! if you want to keep noise down you can get a greddy evo2 exhuast to match that greddy header.

I've seen two SPOON manifolds a 2 peice 4-2-1 and a 4-1 - both are around £500-£600.

I was just wondering have yous heard of the spoon 4-1 cos i seen it for sale on tokyo-express.

I've been reading some debates between 4-2-1 and 4-1 and i have to say i'm hearing more positives on the 4-1 so i think i may just purchase the SPOON 4-1 if its legit.

Heres the link! - http://www.tokyo-express.co.uk/spoon/4into1exhaust.php.htm

I'm registered there! i dont really browse much tho - cheers for that!

Its pretty beaten up :( - i dont wanna ruin my build

Ah its ok was nice of you to help out - its just dirty and dented

The positive you refer to it depends what you really want to get..... If you desire high end power then you have to buy a 4-1 structure header, if you want midrange power then buy a 4-2-1, as simple as that. But a lot of guys recommend the 4-2-1 for the B16A/B engines cuz of lack of torque. Especially, if you are using your car for daily trips then the latter choice suits better!!! :D

Well i'm used with driving it around with little torque, my older civic was far worse - and right now i'm trying to keep up with my mates EP3 type-r :( so i need some power higher up as he starts to lose me in 4th gear!

Its not impossible to beat him however, but you start from a handicap of 30 horses, 30 lbs-ft of torque and an engine being 400 cc weaker!!! You really have to work on your head to catch up in high speeds, $$$$:(

the spoon 4-1 manifolds are actually 4-2-1, they merge into te 2 and then the 1 near the collector :wow:

I recommend 5zigen coz I've got one and like manosek9 said, theres a lot of mid range power...

If I were to choose between the top brands, then I'd choose spoon..WHy? Well if you look at the comparison of headers in a thread somewhere in this forum, the Spoon header makes the most HP THOUGHOUT the rev range... I'd prefer it over TODA anyday.

Manosek9: Hey, do you like the sound of yours??? The sound of mine makes the B18C with full mugen exhaust sound like a tin can. lol

And I suppose you like the sound, ha?? Well, I bought the car two years ago having no mods except from a Kakimoto 60mm exhaust(with a silencer) and the header only. The sound was like....don't know how to say it.........like hearing squeezed noise(music to me :) ) being violently released through a small pipe  , sometimes being irritating for the ear when driving through roads surrounded by houses especially stores(glasses)!!! Now, with Skunk2 Racing Stage II cams and the peripherals........ You don't wanna hear this...
