Matt black or leave white???

Hi everyone, im going to be treating my ek9 next month with a couple of mods ie 4-1 manifold, apexi controller, bmc cad filter (already on) uprated engine mounts. The exterior i was thinking of painting the roof, centre spoiler and wheels in matt black, im also gonna buy face lift rear light, adjustable spoiler brackets, quick shift, clear side indicators, cold air feed running right up to the front of the bumper, tint the front windows to match the existing ones, paint the calipers red so they look fresh and new H badges for the bonnet/boot. The car already has a uprated clutch, discs, red stuff pads a the front and green at the rear, de-cat, buddy club exhaust system, mugen pedals, crustal clear headlight with hid xenon conversion kit, tein coilovers and the front bumper has been flushed and replaced with a square number plate at the corner.


What are you opinions on the matt black roof, centre spoiler and wheels???

It's not my cup o' tea, but when you come to sell the car most people will be put off. I know I wouldn't have bought an EK9 with a black roof and spoiler and I think alot of first time EK9 buyers would want the original colour scheme too.

And the tints won't be road legal.

Matt black roof? I think ur off the head mate lol!! (no offence ha!)

It will cost a bit to get done id imagine and will u find a buyer come selling time? But suppose never seen dat contrast before so as they sat "don't knock it til ya try it"!!

I have to do some of the same upgrades to my own aswel; badges, headlights, HID's!

How much are ek9 headlights in th UK? €200 in Ireland just wonderin if theres a price difference!

If your going to get a black roof, get a proper job and have it glossy. Matte black would look tacky i think, although i dont even think they look good at all on ek. Some cars look good, I had mine done on my polo, but that really ties in with the lines on the car and the windscreen, it just looks out of place on a civic i think.
 
well the thing is my m8 has got his own business as a car body shop with all the expensive gear also hes just bought a brand new oven bake spray booth dust free which there was nothing wrong with his old one anyway but there we go. He owes me a big favour at the moment and has offered to do these jobs for me as a pay back, we would be using the proper matting agent like is used on the new porsche to matt the black so it would have the exact protection as a normal gloss coat. I just thought matt black would be a total different to gloss???
 
Yeh as good as finish as he will get, matte black will never look as classy as a glossy glass like finish i dont think.
 
i only really like a black roof on euro style cars. dont think it suites the jap stuff. Thats just my opinion but i've been wrong before, i would say gloss over a matt finish thou.
 
glossy over matte and keep your wheels white and deck the ek9, i think it would look well, but black wheels wouldnt be nice atal
 
Why not compromise with the paint and do it satin black?! Thats what I did on my wheels as gloss was too much but I didnt like matt as it was too flat. Its down to taste, and as you said its getting done free and its not like you cant change it back, especially as your mate can do it for you in the future. So go with what you want, the fact that you are asking people says you are unsure, but you have options so go with your gut.

ps where abouts you in north wales? Im in Llandudno.

What is the different between matte and satin i thought they were all had a dull finish!!!!

Satin is just a cross between the two, just a sheen to it, looks good on wheels. Although after giving it some more thought as I was typing I think gloss would be the way to go if you are going to do it. As the other paint is gloss the windows are shiny (being glass) and I just think that it will blend in better than matt. Im sure ive seen a EK9 on here with a black roof.

Ahh Blaenau, ok, go through there quite a bit on the bike in the summer. Yeah should get together at some point. I met another guy off here the other day as he was in the area which was good. Ive always wanted a Ek9 but havent got one yet. I love my Jordan though, wouldnt sell her to get a EK9, just would have to save more to cover the cost.

my car is going in for a respray soon and have been asking myself the same question... gloss black roof or the colour im resprayin it in. after much thought im having it painted the same as the rest of the car...dunno why just think it will look better
