5) what kind of racing/competition do you do?

He said drag and street racing in that post :)

I would say once again depends.... When it comes to choosing gears to a specific application it can be pointed out what would work best, but in this scenario i will say its all down to preference what gears you choose......

What you think you will enjoy..... When dragging idealy you will want to keep revs up on each gear change, so check out the calculator on the MFactory site to give you a good incite of how each gear set works with each other.....

me = failure at reading...

The rule of thumb is that the smaller the engine displacement, the shorter the gears have to be, provided the engine can rev.

I would stick with the
1.695
1.384
1.130

lol :D

That is a good point....

I will be going 1800cc so will go slightly longer...

problem with the 1.000 when using 1.384 in 4th there is a major drop in revs to 5th gear(more so then OEM gearing), so would think the 1.296 4th would work better...... then you would also need to change 3rd to make it work even better......

hence my edit at 8:30am to use the 1.130 :p

If you are going with 1800cc, I'd opt to alter the gears a little bit and use the slightly taller setup.

hahaha :D

Definietly! I will be going for the 1.625, 1.296, 1.000, as personally i do think the car has pretty long gears... Although my aim is around 250BHP on a built motor so I may actually be inclined to keep stock gearing untill then to see if i really need the shorter gears as with that power may be sufficient..... Then again with the gears it would be even quicker!

Will have to wait and see, i do like chomping through gears though! dont like gears that drag :nono:

good videos mate !!, im going to get some down soon of the speedo just to show the rpm drop between gears :D

Why is it so hard to get hold of MFactory price`s ? Have been trying for ages now and still no answer :angry2: I can see the prices on the Homepage but I need the price in the UK and the agent in Britain is not giving me an answer.
Now I found someone in Austria from the DC2 forum who can sell me what I´m looking for.

What MF stuff do you want a price for? Have you tried DMRR? Approx price for a 3/4/5 combo is £600.

Hi you never ask myself or dmrr for price you would of got straight answer:nice: let us know exactly what you are looking for

I have called & written e-mails to DMRR but still no reply, might be on Holiday....who knows. I just wanted a price for the 3 & 4th gearset, he had to find out the cost of it but surely it cant take that long. Never mind, I will just wait.

DMRR charged me £356.81 + £62.44 vat for 3rd & 4th (1.296/1.384).

£162.67 + £28.47 vat for the 5th gear (1.000).

Ordered late 2007, so prices change but it gives you an idea eh.

Sorry about that Winston, I will pass this on to Des and get him to get on it first thing Monday. Apologies for the delay. When did you call/e-mail, so that I can give him some idea of the time period we're talking about?

Prices have gone up since 2007, due to currency changes, costs us more to buy from US now than it did back then.

Again, apologies.

I first contacted DMRR 14th december, Des did say that staff was down with the flu so he was a little busy and would get back to me. Maybe it´s just me that is a little impatient :)
