Im thinking of buying a cat back Mongoose exhaust for my Ek vti,im wondering does any one have one on there vti? the reason im asking is i dont want it loud, basically i more or less dont want any noise inside the car out of vtec. Or can anyone recommend a system that is quiet?

Thanks

tanabe hyper medalion is a very nice exhuast... exactly what you describe..

don't go for mongoose.. its sacrilidge to put a cheap uk system on a jap car..

although i have herad mongoose are a good fit.. def check out some jap systems though mate.. maybe even a mugen twinloop.. although these are Very Very quiet..

Totally agree with everything topher has said!

Ive got a mongoose full cat back system with a decat on my b16 and off vtec its not to loud unless u want it to be. Allso on vtec its pretty loud was on the car when i got it my mrs hates it tho up to u as a daily runner its ok if u want quiet go twin loop mugin

as said get a decent system that will last and not sound like a fart cannon...

another quiet one would be the apexi ws2

What mongoose system have you got? tailpipe size?

Apexi ws2 looks like an option,Mugen twin loop is way out of my price range,im not looking to spend massive money on a system.

I've also got the Mongoose on my VTi and tbh its no more a fart-cannon than any other exhaust in the price range.

One day I'll be fitting a B18 lump so would be changing over to a full 2.5 inch system, but for a daily driver thats stainless steel and cost me just over £300 new its good value for money.

Power-wise I doubt if it makes any more bhp than stock but will last for ever and sounds loud in vtec and acceptable when below 5k revs. I also have a Supersprint 4-2-1 set of headers which tbh I feel made more difference than the Mongoose cat-back did.

The Civic is a UK car so to be fair its UK + UK but I get your point.

JDM is all well and good if you can afford it and find the parts ;)

What back box have you got mate? Im thinking of the 3inch tailpipe backbox.

not sure if they come in 2.5 inch but have one on my jordan and 2bh it sounds awsome and my car mad 172bhp with that exhaust on and that was all the mods, theres a guy on the itr forum who does hillclimbing and he had a number of jdm exhausts and finished off keeping the mongoose lol

as i said Steve the mongoose 3" tailpipe version is what your after.

i put the exact system on the other halfs ek3 and its perfect for motorway miles etc as it is not loud at all like the "sewer pipe" version they offer.

and its not a cheap system, god ive seen "jdm" systems breaking down in various manners over the years.

just put plenty of exhaust paste on the "sleeve" joints and enjoy.

:thanks:

I rest my case.

Care to explain?

Its ok for the money and as you cant see it (under the car) it does the job - if you have a tuned car you'll want a better system thats dyno proven for real gains, if you just need an exhaust like I did for sensible money it does the job - simples!

I have the 3.5 inch outlet but ordered the 3 inch rolled in - seller messed me around so much that by the time it arrived I was so fed up I kept it but thats not Mongoose's fault tbf.

I wouldn't care where an exhaust system comes from - if it fits my needs then it's good. No matter if it's from Japan, UK, Holland, Atlantic Sea or Mars. But then again I've never jumped onto the JDM-hype bandwagon. As long as I like it and the quality is good, that's all that matters.

Hell, everyone talks about the Mugen Twinloop which is _real_ JDM etc but it's not even 2,5" in the muffler itself so I got an OBX replica since that one ís 2,5" inside the muffler and has gotten good reviews :D So putting a US muffler on my car. It works, the way I want it and quality is pretty nice.

Its what you want and can afford at the end of the day mate, you could always try getting a custom one made that way you can get it exactly how you want it looks and sound

That's true and it's not even that expensive in the UK to have one custom made! In Holland you'd be looking at 800-900 pounds for a custom s/s exhaust :/

What! Thats crazy expensive :/ i got my custom one full s/s system for £300 made and fitted!
