ok i just drove my car to the city today....and when i got back....there's a freaking leak on my motor mounts.....:angry2:

the yellow arrows tells you where i found the leak...and some black spots on the side of that mount...

is it good to fix it? or do i need to buy an after market one? which one is the best for my B18C type r engine?....coz that one is probably stock, and it can't handle the torque...

anyway do i need to fix this right away? any of you guys have this problem?

thanks

Stock B16A/B mounts is enough if you just want to replace 1. But if your considering replacing everything, you can go for harder mounts which would sacrifce comfort. Otherwise, go for replacing all mounts with OEM EK9 mounts.

sorry what do you mean "you can go for harder mounts which would sacrifce comfort"...is the harder mount not comfortable...like you can feel vibrations, coz its hard? and how many mounts are in there, if im gonna replace them all?

Yup, harder mounts like SPOON and others are for racing. They are harder so they dont absorb shock as much as the stock ones. Mainly to reduce engine vibration.

But you cant go wrong with NEW EOM type R mounts. It'll feel like a new car.

There 5 in total for engine mounts.

I remember SPOON mounts cost 33300yen around there + shipping and commission.

I can get quotes for complete stock mounts if you want. They are cheaper than SPOON for sure.

hhhmmmm EK9 mounts......do you know how much the OEM EK9 mounts all together? in Canadian or US money....

thanks...

If sandwiches is around he can tell you alot about the diference.. he has a full set of spoon enigne mounts on his EK9, IMO they dont have any more noticable vibration than stock! they are a bit stiffer and spoon replace the oil-filled mount with a solid rubber/poleurethane bushing!

i have a full set of Spoon engine mounts in my EK9, very small amount of extra vibrations, deffinately not uncomfortable/unbearable though!!

would deffinately reccomend them, engine feels alot sharper and more responsive with them, perfect!

i'm actually going to be filling my lower torque mounts with silicone to stiffen them up a little bit too as they are just as flexy as stock :nice:

you can use ES engine mount inserts for this they are less than £30 from funky power

They are (on paper) stiffer mounts, but I know you didn't think they "felt" much different. I've noticed it being more positive between gears, more instant back on the revs.

Definitely no added vibrations though. The main reason i went for Spoon ones is the price. I don't think you'd be able to get a full set of OE mounts for less than I paid for my Spoon ones (£230). The OE rear one on its own is £93.

Filling the torque mounts isn't a bad idea Steven, they're sooo flexible. The one's we removed were knackered.

ive got the Spoon mounts too... :D

fitted a Spoon torque damper @ the same time, which does mke loads of vibrations!! but i can live with it... as u get much more feel frm my uprated clutch :nice:

i see...so many of you guys have SPOON mounts on their car.....hhhhmmmm SPOON mounts.....lol....anyway i ask my mechanic about that and he gave 2 choices....#1 go for mounts from Honda $120 CAN just to replace the one mount, #2 go for a Hasport Mounts or Spoon mounts cost about $399 CAN....i will probably go for the SPOON mounts, coz if i bought the Honda mount, i have a feeling i will replace it again :(

anyway if i dont replace this right away...am i gonna brake something else??

321USD for SPOON mounts + shipping + commission. I'm waiting on quotation for OEM mounts. These are from Japan, so things are much cheaper.

Its really up to you. People never complain about their engine mounts on a new car. For eg, Some people might think my TEIN monoflex isnt that bad in terms of comfort but for me its damn bad.

Poly Urethane is a tough material and is always going to be much stiffer than OEM mounts (oil fluid inside).

CHEAP AS CHIPS :nice:

Cheap huh!! These prices are what local Japanese are paying. I just wished I could teleport them over here instead of paying for shipping  Seriously guys, anything you paying for in UK is like 2-5 times more expensive.

hmm woudl love to go over on holiday with a nice shopping list!

Because we have shipping to pay for, duty, VAT, UK overheads, UK staff costs, UK everything..

Japan tax is 5% "consumption" tax.

We pay £5+ for a gallon of fuel - so our delivery costs are more..

I can buy a complete kitchen in China for under 500USD - B&Q will sell the same thing for £2500

replaced my mounts yesterday for SPOON mount....:nice: awesome...i like it....not much vibrations compare to my friends Hasport mounts, which has lots of vibrations going on...my SPOON mounts feels great :D

try get a set of engine mount inserts that does the job well and its not costly !!!'
much cheaper than buying the mounts
