Mugen twinloop damage pics, INFORMED opinions please

I had a closer look at this today and this dent does not actually affect the pipe that the exhaust gases go though....

tech heads?

Why are you bothered about performance, yet have a Mugen TL?

Twinloops are restricive over the OEM standard exhaust system, lol. When I had a twinloop on mine, it was very very quiet.. I gained 15whp from a small block skim and exhaust swap (Twinloop to Skunk2).

Ive spoke to sumopower and other tuners asking that and pretty much none of them agree.

I do believe someone on here compared the TL to the Oem system. Graphs were posted too and the oem system was better... So I guess they are kinda wrong lol?

Same thing was found with the DC5 application on itr-dc5 I believe, its the back box of the twinloop that keeps the noise level low, you would only get a minimal rise in db by replacing the damaged section with a straight pipe, it looks beyond repair, only way to be sure is a rolling road session as it is.

It was dynoed dented, the tuner didn't mention any issues although he didn't notice the damage (RDT)

The DC5 that had the Twinloop was compared against the buddyclub system (if I am thinking of the car you are thinking of).

Maybe the S300 has disguised any restrictions by the hp gains it gives with a proper tune, Im sure Will can advise you best, why you would get it tuned with a known damaged system Im not sure, its difficult to see the real extent from the pictures though.

Not sure Andrew, there has been a couple of threads on other forums on the Twinloop, there are more free flowing systems out there that still meet decibel requirements, if I was spending money on an ecu & tune I would want to make sure everything was sorted beforehand.

Car will be going into endless horizon for some engine work later in the year, will see what they say.

Thanks haitch.

ouch :( as said lee i would get it cut out and a straight through put in mate ;)

I think this will be the best option mate. However, do you think the backbox will still be able to handle the pressure with no center box? all that pressure on the twinloop system?
