Hiya,

as you guys might already know im gonna get a 98 EK9 imported mid May 2008,a stock ek9.

These are the following mods i am gonna do:_
5zigen Exhaust manifold
Mugen Induction Kit
Volk ce28n rims(15's or 16's)
a decent audio system
lowered 60mm
Spoon N1 back box and a Spoon B pipe

Would the spoon system im gonna go for be too loud, as i want a suttle loudish sound but not too loud of a sound, :angry2:,not gonna get a de-cat as it would be too loud.

please advise,

kind regards.:nice:

Is gonna be loud, but I think it is drivable, if you like a quiet exhaust go for the mugen one :)

Your mod list is top notch :nice: As rvm said, you should get the Mugen twin loop instead of the Spoon exhaust, it's gonna be more quiet, and more efficient.

does the mugen twin loop sound decent,

dont wont want it too quiet,

want it to sound like it is a bit of a hot hatch beast, lol.:)

Dont lower it as much as 60 mm mate as the standard ek9 dampers wont last long that low ,lower it 30-35 mm should be ok ,other than that your proposed spec list sounds very good

wouldn't bother with the "decent sound system", with an aftermarket header/cat back exhaust i really can't hear my stereo too well in the car. Also the engine note more than makes up for this :D

How lowered is a standard ek9,

might be sounding dumb but am still a amateur,

i will probably lower it 40mm vtec, dont wanna screw over the dampers,

please advise,

appreciate it guys,:nice:

Don't forget that by lowering it alot(30-60 mm), the inner surface of the tires will get eaten much faster than leaving it at standard height, not a good thing at all for grip and smooth driving.

Also your suspension will become much stiffer, and really stiff suspension do not constitute a pleasant situation for daily driving. Their life is shortened also.

In addition I believe EK9 doesn't need lowering, the handling is amazing and OEM suspension setup can handle much of abuse from 200+ bhp, because of the chassis rigitity and overall weight.
So I would say if you really wanna lower it, then max 20 mm :nice:

Fair enough,

i see where your coming from,:)

has anyone on this forum got pictures of there car that is lowered 20mm,

just wanna have a rough idea of how decent it looks,

thanks guys,:nice:

Theres a couple of pics of people with Spoon springs, which only lower 20mm, try the search m8. The underside of the front lip will scrape many kerbs when parking as standard.

Manos: OEM sussys are good for STOCK setup. But no way can compare to TEINS etc. My EK9 handles better than my DC2R, but mainly because of the TEIN monoflexs I have. Note that my DC2R has genuine 58,000kms on the clock and street driven only. Too be honest, comparing my stock DC2R to the 9, the DC2R is rather soft in handling.

vtecboi: lowering 30mm is fine and will not wear out your inner tyres. Only excessive lowering like when the tyres go under the fenders does.

EK9 standard suspension setup is great! although after you've driven the car a fair bit and pushed it's limits etc you will see where it can be improved....

i think it's deffinately worthwile with a slightly lowered/stiffer setup, it will add to the enjoyment of the car no end and just make it better!

got plans for a huge suspension overhaul on mine with lots of nice bits, will have to wait till winter though to take the car off the road and do it all, will give me time to save up and accumulate parts over the summer :D

I did not refer to aftermarket suspesnion......obviously TEIN as an example it is better than OEM no doubt. I was saying that by compressing the OEM suspesnion that might not be the way to improve performance. The looks of the car will improved surely. And as for the wear on the tires, the more you lower the car the more the tires wear out, maybe 30mm will not wear them out in short period of time but in some time later on before changing them you will realize inner wear :nice:

Again, bad wheel alignment will give you inner wearing, 30mm lowering + wheel alignment should give none.
