Nankang NS2R Trackday tyre

Can't really go wrong for that price lol
You get more tread depth than the usual suspects aswell.

Wondering they are r comp rubber? Could be a performance bargain if that's the case. Either way you'd pay that for decent road performance tyres. Once my 888's are out I might give these a go.

What do you mean by comp rubber?

They do a soft and med (120) and (180).

I believe r compound rubber is what the toyos and Yoko are made of? Like a different rubber than a road tyre not just a different tread pattern. Maybe an American term that I've picked up and using wrongly?

Reading this suggests that the rubber in the new ad08 is "r" compound? Hence the ad08R.
IT'S ALL ABOUT RUBBER: NEOVA AD08R TIME ATTACK - Speedhunters

I'll carry on searching but what I've found ATM is r compound rubber is what slicks are made of. the semi slicks have softer sidewalls but remain the "r" compound of rubber on the tread surface like a slick.

If these are any good I'll get a set as well. Someone should review them

I know this is an old thread but did anyone actually try these? as I may be looking to get a set very soon.

Seen a few reviews on cliosport of these.

They appear to be a good tyre.

Ill be going for a set of Toyo R1R's from here TOY19550R1582VR1R

Cheapest i have found them for.

Despite the reviews about the Nankangs I just couldnt bring myself to order some haha

Nankang have hit Ireland big time in drifting for 2014 season. il be using there new tyre for front grip this year too on my car. there serious in the wet and dry in both thread depths. a lot better than R888's in the wet aswell

Interesting for the price, although the price for R1R's seems to have dropped a lot recently

I've just been having a look at track day tyres and these do seem pretty good from the reviews and the price is crazy good.

I currently have a newish set of R888's so don't need a set yet but might give them a try when our current set die.

Find of the century there mate!! Extremely cheap for R1R's. Last time I looked at them they were minimum of like £80 a corner.
I thought I was doing well finding Federal 595 RSRs for £63 each. But looking on the net now, looks like these two tyres have come down in price quite a bit since last summer! good news for this years summer tyre purchasing :D

Federals are also £57 here for anyone who is interested.

wowzers.....

As your talking tyres and federal 595 rsr i thought id put in my 2 p. I just replaced my front two federal 595 rsr after 6k miles they where on the wear indicators.

6k miles has including around 1500 miles of european hoonage and 10 laps on the ring. And the rest in england. Both front tyre delaminated after the ring trip, causing a cut like line across the tyre. After wearing them down this delamination runs right to the wear indicators.

Apparently its caused by extreme heat, in my case caining it round the ring. I did some research and it seems fairly common on the rsr, which is a bit worrying.

I never had this problem with my AD08, again these last around 6k miles.

Im goner be trying something else next, maybe these nangkangs

I've got a sneaky suspicion the nankangs will react very similarly to the federals you've been having issues with.
They are both more budget level track/road tyre and obviously build to that price range. not sure they have the pedigree that toyo and yoko's have when it comes to track tyres to be worth the save in money? Would be great if someone here bit the bullet on them though and gave a review.

Ye thats why im thinking of maybe getting some medium compound R888 on a second set of wheels. And trying out R1R as my road tyre. I dont really want to pay £250 for nangkangs if they turn out to be ****.

When i say road miles, 90% of those road miles are pretty hard on the tyres, so i need something fairly decent. If i can get 5k on my road tyres im happy.
