Ok so ive got a b20vtec and im not sure what the next step should be to make it quicker.
Its fairly basic so theres a bit i could do..... but what?
spec is:
b16a head
b20b stock block
itr airbox
2.5 tanabe 4-2-1 exhaust manifold
345cc injectors
2.25 full system.
its got stock clutch and flywheel.

So do i get flywheel, a 2.5 exhaust system or itr cams, intake and t/b next?
what you guys think?
Also with itr cams will i need springs and retainers?

You need higher compression, you're currently at about 9.1 and that's not going to make any power with bolt ons. Get some high compression pistons or don't bother!

Build a savage head for it,skunk2 cams, ported and polished etc?

Out of interest how much did the conversion cost you?I'm after a b20 in my 9

management? no mention of it...

As said above, higher compression is what you need. Changing the cams in an attempt for more power will be pointless as you dont have the compression to get them working well.

If I were you, Id get the bottom end rebuilt with good pistons (around 12:1 cr) and rods, an endyne crank girdle, new oil pump, new bearings etc then if theres change left over go for BC stage2 cams/springs/retainers and youll see about 235-240ish on an honest dyno.

Oh, and up the exhaust diameter to 2.5" with a 2.5" collector on the manifold too. Gains from an intake manifold will be pretty negligible.

So you reckon even cams on that setup wouldnt do a thing? I know of people who have added cams before pistons and noticed an improvement.

As for the cost of my b20 build im probably not the best person to ask as i got a crv for nowt so my engine was free!!!

Sorry management is a p30 chipped and tuned on ectune.
Not sure im ready to build the block up yet. My wallet aint that phat...
Guess ill have to keep saving

yep, throwing money at the top end will not get you worthwhile gains with a stock block, and youll only have to take it all off again to build the bottom end ;)

B20's are amazing if done well.

defo build it properly if you do, mine is stock atm too, bolt ons only, if i do decide to build, it will be getting fully built!
although atm im pretty content with it and its enough for me so monies are going towards track days!

speak to Daz and DNR, iirc they do crate motors to your spec, you can sell off your one easily too

Cheers for all the replies guys. Maybe i'll spend some money in other areas 1st then to improve it. Would also like to do some trackdays this year.

Why plate? I currently have a y21 without LSD. What would be more beneficial? LSD or final drive?

The Plate LSD is more aggressive and is beneficial on the track vs. the Helical.

LSD would be more beneficial for a FWD setup.

Since dropping the transmission is far more involved than changing the exhaust, suspension or even cams, I would suggest that you do the LSD and Final drive at the same time.
