i have this b16a stock engine, and im planning to have it turboed, hoping to reach 280-300hp, its a daily driven car. do's and donts, tnx alot :)

be prepared to empty your bank account is all i can say fella, have you considered maybe transfering to a more powerfull n/a engine, b18? k20?

well im still planning as of now, i just need some advices from u guys, anything as long as ill reach that hp, and can be used as a daily car :)

hmmmm, im trying to stick with b16a, damn thos k's or other b series are really expensive....

or rather reach 250 hp.... any setup advices tnx :naughty:

Turbo conversions arent a lot at all if you source all parts seperately. My mates company will do a full conversion for like £1000 depending on parts you would want...250-300 is achieveable with the right tune and parts etc..

i didnt mean its expensive to do.. im talking acctually running a turbo car on a daily basis.

because his power goals are modest, there's no problem running a boosted sled on a daily basis.

ideally you would want to upgrade the following to cope:

-cooling system - full width radiator with slim fans and shrouds
-fuel system - bare minimum 440cc injectors with adjustable FPR, I'd opt for 600cc
-ARP headstuds
-cometic or custom thicker headgasket to bring down the compression (maybe)
-some form of programmable ECU such as Hondata etc.
-COMPETENT TUNER

-2.5in but 3.0in is desirable, exhaust
-high capacity oil pan (moroso 5qt.)

-brakes - some more aggressive pads
-clutch
-LSD
-flywheel (maybe)

-depending on mileage, you may want to freshen up your motor with new rings, bearings, timing belt, oil pump, water pump, timing belt tensioner.

-larger intake manifold from a CTR/ITR/Skunk2 etc with larger throttle body.
-phenolic gaskets to help combat heat in stop/go traffic situations and just generally overall.

Perhaps most importantly is controlling/venting crankcase pressure

to raging angel - thankyou for the list:bow:
1. im starting with the pad, going to replace my stock with a high performance, is tanabe enough?
2. next is the manifold, i guess ctr will do for me
3. then the piston (99 model still stock, i should replace the internals just to make sure)

do they still sell brandnew ctr piston and manifold?:)

I doubt there are really any off the shelf branded JDM exhausts that are capable of supporting mild Honda Turbo setups.

US brands like Thermal may be a quick and viable solution or even some of the ones on eBay currently. Update your location first so we can better help you.

CTR manifold is fine

they do sell the pistons and manifold new, but you wouldn't want the CTR ones. Too high compression.

Internals are up for debate. If you're willing to freshen up the motor, then perhaps a new set of pistons give you some peace of mind. However, take note that some forged pistons require a specific cross hatch pattern for proper oil control. You will have to strip the block bare and have it machined.

For your specific power goals, internals are not necessary - though, tuning is absolutely critical.

oh sorry, im just new here, there, done updating, im from philippines(asia)

so tanabe pads wont do? any brand you can refer?
i guess ill stick to my stock compression ratio, upgrade manifold, then the rest for future plans....

I misunderstood your parts list. I have not tried Tanabe pads before. But they should be just fine for you. If you need something more aggressive. I think in the phillippines, you have access to pads like Endless and Project Mu.

ok ill check those!:)

hi, sorry to thread jack people

JDmarron-ive just looked into an integra block and some headwork on my ek9 and is going to be costing around £1500-2000, but after seeing this i am havin second thoughts!
is the price £1000 for parts + labour? if so what sort of parts/maufacturers do they use? could i possibly pay more and have better parts again?

cheers
