Hi

Im going to buy new tyres in spring to my ek4 however i don´t know which i should buy.

thinking of:

Yoko AD08
Bridgestone R11
Hankook Z112
Bridgestone R050/ R070
Toyo T1R

It´s most for daily driving but will visit the track 2-5 times regarding on how much they can take. Do you have any knowledge of these tyres?

Other suggestions?

i can recommend toyo R1R's as a brilliant road and track tyre. also the yoko's you mention. had no dealings with the other tyres you mention.

hankook rs2 is a treat track/road tyre and arnt to expensive either id definatly recommend them

Should not be on the list, they are cheap rubbish. If you meant R1R, then fair enough.

Their still a bit squishy from what ive seen.

AD08's or RE-11's if you can get them :win:

Sorry of course i meant R1R.

Think it´s between the yoko and hankook rs2 to decide...rs2 are a bit cheaper wonder if the yoko are worth the difference?

Yoko AD08 - no first hand experience of the AD08 but have the AD07 Neova fitted to a couple of wheel sets and can tell you its a cracking road/track day tyre in the dry. Reasonable (read progressive) in the wet too. The AD07 also gives you greater cross section at a specific size, IMO a 195 is closer to a 205. The AD08 is meant to be even better than the AD07 but its pricey.

Bridgestone R11 - no first hand experience of this.

Hankook Z112 - do we have a different name for the Z112 in the UK? If you're going with Hankook then the RS2 would be the one to have, everyone raves about it on itr-dc2, as a track day tyre its meant to be as good as an R888 (getting long in the tooth now), if not better, good value too.

Bridgestone R050/ R070 - Although not tried the R050, can tell you I found the RE050 to be a decent enough road tyre in the wet and dry but found the S02 pole position to be better. The Goodyear Eagle F1 has the RE050 licked in the wet though. Not sure how well the RE050 would stand up to a trackday. Again just telling you what I have experience of the R050 maybe worlds apart from the RE050, its a newer tyre after all.

Toyo R1R - no first hand experience of this but apparently has the same compound as the R888 which I have tried. The design is more suited to road driving than the R888 and apparently its quieter too (which the R888 isnt). I maybe wrong on this but doesnt the R1R come with deeper tread too? The R888 only comes with 5mm of tread ('premium' road tyres come with 8mm of tread) so in theory the R1R should be better value, as it will last longer.

You should also consider Federal if want bang for your buck. Both the RS595 and RS-R595 are held in high regard. I know the guy who runs rare rims rates these higher than the R888 or RS2, both of which he stocks aswell, so I dont think it's favoritism.

Fedral RSR595 got a set on my car now can't fault them feel really planted. I have tryed the PS2's cheap Tyres good in the dry but not wet. Hankook rs2's again very good in the dry a bit twitchey in the wet not much direction on them. Out of all of them the rsr is the best good directional tread for the wet and soft compound for the dry. Speaking with buddyclub they have tested tyres for the civic cup and the rsr came out on top for grip plus wear. Have a chat with Shaun/Paul at SPD or google civic cup. Hope that's of some help.

Thanks for some good advice!

feel i have to check federal out!

Are you using your rsr for DD?
