Hiya there,

I wanted to buy a ek9, but wasnt to sure if i should get 1, as people on the forum are saying the cars rarely are at 185 bhp, most of them in the 160 bhp status,

any advise?

Have you heard anyone saying about this car being not a good choice to buy?? Because at the end of the day this is a very strong clue I think......
Don't forget we are talking about a 10-year old car and is logical to loose some hp just like EVERY OTHER car but a B16B being in good condition no way to go down to 160 bhp!

And btw, sticking to numbers is always a trap because numbers sometimes lead to wrong impressions and they are the source of disputes.......people insult each other for the best TV set based on its specs...........I had an intense conversation with someone here a long time ago concerning some tenths of a second for the 0-60 time EK9 can make.

My advice?? Buy the car, enjoy it because its great, and the rest are bullshit!!

i believe you are misunderstanding, what most of us are saying is that they ARE 185bhp which translaters to 160WHP.

£5500-£7500 for 97-99 depending on import grade/condition. £7500 for newer and £8000+ for 2000 Rx's.

ps. Mine ran 184hp at the last rolling road I went on.

hi mate just got my ek9 on the 22 of this month i was looking at getting another skyline or an evo 6 but my mate told me to think about the ek9 went to see it and that was it a wanted it glad a bought it great car to drive should have got one sonner

I think everybody hears refer to Wheel horse power, WHP, 150 - 160 whp which is 185 hp at the motor

You need to get rid of those 17s mate, an EK9 needs 15s for the proper experience.

17s on an ek9 is just stupid.

anybody whos into this type of car will know to stick to 15s...(16s at max)..otherwise your just taggin along with the usual follow the leader moddifying trends.

the ek9 is a stunning car that gets looks everywhere and people moan and say theres cars with more power etc etc etc..but you have to remember - its a 10 year old car with 185bhp out of a 1.6. and on top of that..find another car of its age thats got LSD and double wish bone suspension and a recaro interior to boot! lol

double wish bone rear sus made the EG, EK & EP's handle brill... dont understand why they decided to replace it on the new FN 'R's...

btw: EK9 = 15"
