Hi thought i'd start this post to help gain some valuable knowledge. I went in august and got a 9mins 33sec lap only in 8 laps!!! Timed from BTGT. What did you get?

What preperations did you make to drive the ring. I had a few light mods but next year it will be fully prepared.

I ran my tyres at 28psi front and 32psi rear. I think that next year i will drop the rear psi to make the handling a little more neutral as it was a lil back happy.

I'm hoping next year to really bring that time down. If you looked at my build you will know why. Any 1 have a time in a EK9?

I'm gearing up ready for next year.

Main focus on handling, braking, performance and above all safety. I can't wait!!!

9mins 33sec, thats pretty good. did you do the whole 20,600m (12.800mi)? lets see...:blinx: according to Wikipedia... you are a bit slower than a Ford Focus RS! (i hate the Focus!). come on Whiteman, you gotta rep better for EK9 community. call me when you get in the 8min range. thats NSX, S2000 territory.

here's what i am wondering. we've all seen the Youtube video of the EK9 vs Godzilla (R35 GT-R), where Godzilla got pwnd right. which got me thinking (@_@)*smoke coming out of ears*, is it possible that you can take a turbo charged EK9 with about 400-500whp, take it on a loop around the "Ring", and place the EK9 among some of the fastest cars... EVER!

bucc-i, id say no, the ring is a true test of every aspect of car and driver, tbh, i dont think it would complete a lap without failing or huge heat soak issues

never timed myself around the ring, i have ek4 not a 9, didnt bother goin this year but should be there again next year, times will vary as depends what points people time from and accuracy will be out a little if simple timing yourself (imho from safety point timing isnt good idea on ring anyway unless actual racing or actual testing)

I think an ek9 could be built to be one of the fastest moddified production cars on the ring. It would have to built just for the job though.

Yeah if you had a really really good driver ! lol

I have to disagree with that. If its built properly a 1.6 upto 400-450bhp you can get 40-50,000 miles out of them before they need a rebuild. People who know me know how much abuse I give mine. :p

The whole 13miles. It was timed from BTGT. Where official timing is taken. Bear in mind it was a not far from standard EK4 and only my 8th lap. I will return next in persuit of learning the track and eventually going faster. I love the place its fantastic. I hope to break the 9min barrier with my handling mods.

Havnt been, wouldnt be into timing either, but would like to see what the fuss is about......EK9.org ring trip?

Sound's good to me!!!
ijwhiteman do you fancy sharing some info with us about travel, times to go & cost!

Think it would be a go idea to start a new thread about getting this arranged????

if you go in august you can watch the wrc rally of germany at same time !
about 5 hours from dunkerque (20 pound crossing each way norfolk line inc car)
21 euro per lap, free for all
i did a 11 minute lap in a bmw320 ci with 2 kids, the wife and a boot full of luggage, no brakes after 5 miles, but was under pressure as rally was next day + disney after that, long walk home, top fun though.
we stayed for four nights 2 adults 2 kids 250 euro inc breakfast, 1 hour from circuit

cost wise all in about £500-600 for couple days, most forums usually arrange a trip so prob worth tagging onto another 1

note - make sure you understand the risks etc and costs invloved if you have a problem

I'm interested in going, but I can't bring a car. I would love to take a trip to Germany.

I'm sure the zero1000 EK9 would run some impressive times at the ring, it did run under 60seconds at the suzuka super lap.

Most important things to take.

A credit card. If you hit barrier you are liable for the costs aswell as the ammount of money lost for track closure.... I know some1 who did nearly 10,000 euro due to barrier damage.

Secondly ADAC breakdown recovery. It is a german based recover and is the only one that will collect you from the curcuit and only costs £68 for a year it also is european so works in the uk also.

I went in August but ideal anytime is good. We're looking at may, july, or agust for next year. The nurburgring releases OPEN DATES in the new year. so don't plan your trip yet

The tunnel cost arround £130 return and if you have Tesco vouchers they are worth 4 times there value so i had £30 which good as paid for this.

Inc staying, food, plus petrol, travel, breakdown and 8 Laps in bulk as its cheaper it cost me about £600 for 4 days. I'm planning for 11 days next year and will cost me about a £1000. The place we stayed in was paid for only in week splits so we could have staed ther longer for no extra cost if that makes sense.

Roll on next year...

you can save a good few pounds by going on the speedferries service, my crossing was only £58 this year!! and only took an hour,,

best to try and go for teh midweek sessions as teh weekends are getting crazily busy..

may aswell post up a pic of my ek9 on the ring,,

I'll get my pics ups tonight. Midweek is much better or early morning i didn't drive much on weekedn sessions as it was rediculous!!! As said ferry is much cheaper but takes longer. Like said if you have tesco's vouchers your laughing. Entirely your call on that one.

Great pics OLLY

I am more & more liking the sound of this!

It is something i have alway's wanted to do but never actualy done it!
Now im Driving an EK9 i think it would be rude not to go! lol:drive:
