my mates ek9 is burning oil on vtec
the heads only been rebuilt(stem seals too)

so the rings need replacing...

what exact parts are needed for this?

does the block need to be honed?

could he just get rings and fit them to the pistons and thats it?

cheers

it's possible to do that if the cylinder walls are in good condition. Honing is not required if the walls still have a good cross-hatch.

However, you need to remove the piston and take measurements at the top, middle and bottom of the cylinder to determine if an overbore is necessary.

At the very least, you need to replace the headgasket and headbolts.

:(( OOO dear! i have reused my head bolts? haness and autodata manual claim that it is ok to reuse the bolts?

I have reused headbolts before and had no trouble although if funds are available for new ones then yeah they should be got.

you can re use the headbolts, wouldnt do it more than once though.they are not the easiest engin e to build dont attempt it unless one of you is a good mechanic
