Police in England don't carry guns?? Had no idea

Just to point out hand guns are illegal for any member of the public to own. I also think that any rifle that carries more than one round is not allowed. Shot guns are easy to get though.
Dunx

Yeah, the only way you can own a fire arm is for a sporting purpose only. You can not use them to protect yourself, family or home. They must be locked away in a place that isn't easily accessible with the key in a different room.

The police guard the SAS camp by me and they carry mp5's. Otherwise the other cops don't carry anything. I think all cops should carry a weapon so they can respond quicker to situations like the other day.

MOD police mate.

Most Cities man major towns have armed units now. I have seen them in Glasgow in a vehicle patrol, pretty sure it was a Shogun they are marked armed response. Also at the airport again with then MP5's

to own a rifle at home it must be kept in a approved metal cabinet which needs to be rawbolted to the floor and wall, and the ammo kept in a seperate place which is also locked up.

Ive never heard of only being allowed one bullet, ive shot rifles with magazines, a little pump action .22 rimfire which held about 6 and a .308 bolt action which held 4

Any shotgun which can hold more than 3 rounds is also classed as a firearm and the barrel length cant be any shorter than 26" i think it was

that was about 7 years ago, bet the laws are tighter now.
