Decided I wanted my inlet to be shiney! Everyone lives shiney engine parts haha. I was at it tonight with sand paper then a polishing kit for an hour or two and here's where I am now.

Once polished you could get it powdercoated clear. it will look a mess if it gets chipped as water gets in the chips and capillaries under the coating lifting it off, but there shouldn't be much reason for it to get chipped where it is.

I think its pretty much same as getting lacured will protect it good idea :nice:

Thing is, now you have got this far, You have to finish it  will look cool for sure, is your Exhaust manifold shiny.

i can see you looking into your engine bay and thinking "hmm what else can i make shiny" haha

Exhaust manifold is standard,I did clean it up though haha.

Your right there! I'm thinking about making a nice tidy bay with loads of shiney bits, maybe some wire re-routing/tucking too. Love spotless bays

Should be polishing the inside not the outside lol

Worst thing is I was looking at mine and thinking ooo it would look good shiny :angry2:

Im in the process of making my bay clean but hats off to you, thats the way to do it. looking good! Mines just gonna get a lick of paint!

how do you polish it m8??

Sand the bulk of it down with a flap wheel on a drill then use 40 then 80 then 320 grit paper until there's no pit marks (takes AAAAAAGES!) then I got an alloy polishing kit from Halfords,it's just buff wheels you put on a drill and compound.

So did you finish polishing your mani? I'm qurius to see!!

Nah I've not touched it again,it's soo boring to do hahaha
