Honda are being a pain, all I want from them is written confirmation that the engine I have in my EK9 (B18C) is a 1800cc engine so I can legally register my engine swap and get the V5 updated.

Apparently they can not bring any details up using just the engine code and can not even provide me with technical data on the B18C either!

DVLA need one of the following:

Change to engine and cylinder capacity (engine size)

DVLA will need written evidence of any changes to engine number and cylinder capacity (cc). Written evidence can be:

a receipt for the replacement engine
written evidence from the manufacturer
an inspection report provided for insurance purposes
written confirmation on headed paper from a garage if the change in engine size took place before you bought the vehicle

I have spoken to the trader on itr-dc2.com but he can not provide me a reciept cause it was a sale from his private car and not through his business. I possibly could use his old chassis or reg number and take that to Honda. They said that they could use those details to bring the engine details up and use that for evidance.

I have PM'ed the trader for this details but got nothing back yet.

What other options do I have?

Any one work at a Honda dealers that can brush me up a headed letter confirming the displacement of the B18C? I can provide my engine number.

Thanks.

Like I said on the other thread concerning this, if they are going to be an arse about it, I would just stamp the B16B number back in.

Not even sure how you would register a B20 conversion, what with it being made out of two different engines...

If you are intent on getting it done properly, I would suggest getting the original cars chassis number is the only way to go about it.

That would be illegal and defy the purpose. Also what if the buyer of the B16B wants to register it?

Me neither.

Yup,

I am trying, but if anyone could provide a reg or chassis of a JDM Integra or works at a dealers, does not even have to be a Honda dealer and is willing to help, then that would be great.

Gee, do you legally have to change the V5 before the sale of the car?

If you don't, then I'd sell it without the change because quite a few people out there who'd want to buy your car wouldn't want to tell their insurance company about the engine swap :nerv: You could let the next owner do it, you could even get all the documents so they could just send it off if they wanted to change the V5.

Not sure mate.

The engine swap is insured and they never mentioned anything about.

why would you bother!!

Well,

I don't want no complications if I was ever involved in an accident and the insurance turn around and look for ways out, such as it not being correctly noted on the V5 etc.

I had the same problem as you mate, the swap was done by the previous owner but wasn't registered. i tried to do it but its just too much hassle.

Its insured as a b18 so i tell myself- that'll do ;)

They would need more info since there are 2 versions of the Integra type r, DC2 and DC5.

Im going through this trouble myself. You can just take your car to any garage as long as they can provide headed letter stating that, that engine is defo in that car. thats all they want to know but just wont take your word for it.

HEre you go Gee, write the dvla a letter notifying them of change with a picture of the engine bay and a picture of the engine code close-up, CLEAR.

then add either a photocopy of the specification pages from the ITR owners manual OR out of the service manual showing the SAME engine code. Thats perfectly acceptable by the DVLA as proof. :nice:

i always thought when an engine is changed the car becomes the same insurance group as the donor car ? iam currently paying more to insure my 9(group 20) than i did for my dc2 (group 18). i was told the 9 is that group due to it being a grey import ( not a uk model of it released ) . so is there cheaper insurance on the cards if running a b18 ? sorry for going off topic

Nah mate.

All depends on the insurance company.

I always go with a specialised insurance company for performance cars and Japanese imports etc.

When I declared my engine swap, me premium never went up as it was only a 15hp increase and they were not bothered.

The guys said to me 'Ahh thats nothing, no charge for that. We have 600hp Supras on the books' LOL

I wish Admiral were that laid back!

I always stick to brokers like:

Highway Insurance
Green Light
Adrian Flux
Sky Insurance

All those run of the mill companys like Norwich **** you when it comes to modifications.

As you know GEE i just insure mine & thats it, i tryed & tryed agen to register my B18 when i fitted it but they were not helpful in anyway at all so i thought F**K them ill have the cheaper tax if you want to be like that! lol

As long as it's insured i dont see a prob really!
