robthedoc's ek9 turbo, adventures in boost!

She's a keeper! Unfortunately not buddy, sat outside the Mrs work waiting on her then getting dragged around the shops :( @robthedoc what did you have in mind mate?

Haha she spies on this thread so no doubt she will read that lol. Her build thread will be getting started soon... I'm about to start re building her b18c!

Nothing really mate, just putting some stuff on flea bay the now then gonna go for some food and a hoon.

Haha good stuff mate, will catch up next week at somepoint if your out and about.

It's all that power!
Split in half? Like along a weld I guess?

Haha that's a cracking photo mate

So first it was the clutch cylinder, replaced it. Then it was the ECT sensor wires, repaired them. Now it's the downpipes turn. Tbh I had a feeling that I would have bother with it. When the new flexi went in it was at a slightly different angle than the original. I'm talking a degree or two max but, when tightening the vband on the down pipe you could see it was straining slightly. Also the weld isn't very strong here so it's getting re welded tomorrow morning and he's gonna make it strong as possible.

Anyway pictures....

That first one , is it a sir or ej9 ? Tidy looking.
That's a kick in the bollox rob ,
You blew the welds off lol !

Looks like the combination of heat, the extra stress from the degree or two from the new flexi, and looks like the pipes were only fused together rather than welded? probably be better if it was back purged also to make it even stronger.

Hope you get it sorted tomorrow.

Ben

Mate you need to have this up and running ASAP not just for you but so I can get out it in lol, sure you will get that sorted no problem

Think your spot on mate. There is zero penetration on the dump tube side of the weld so it's always been a week link. And to be fair it had had its ass kicked for a few miles when it happened.

First sign there was a problem was when the wideband leaned off the scale lol. I was thinking I had a fuelling issue :wtf: thick af

Is that a go autoworks downpipe?
Would it not be better having it tack welded on the car so the alignment can be looked at before final welding.

It is a go autoworks one mate. My system uses slip joints and all of them where loosened to get the down pipe in position. Then the guy that's welding it marked it up when he found its natural position.

I'd probably agree Murray but he's the expert so can't really argue with him lol. Also he's doing it for a bottle of red wine and this is a major bonus as I'm skint!

Rob dude are we going to see the seeker goodies in your baby ? If so ,you lucky git .
