Rotrex K20 EF Civic Track Build

Thanks guys.. no more progress at mo as I am in the middle of moving to a bigger unit..

Once we are in and settled the engine will finally be fitted along with my short ratio box.. just need to order a clutch. :)

: (

My face due to no updates but its good your getting a bigger/better unit mate :)

Wow ! This is to cool ,thanks for taking the time to post all this amazing stuff.

Ok so we are in the new unit.. its massive.. but full already..! Still lots to do (paint, shelving etc).

Few shots of the EF.. all welding now done and sealed up on the arches, just filler and paint now..

Collected a few more bits for the build.. DC5 flywheel, shifter and shifter cables and some 15mm spacers as 25's are too big..

Recently sold my K20 EK so been on the looking for something else.. I have always wanted a 3rd Hen Civic GT and have been looking for months for one.. finally found one and picked it up yest!

Cool find! I love the 3rd gen civic.
Also had one that i recently sold :(

I love how the VW VR6/GTI front lip fits perfectly on the front bumper.

That unit is the business ernie... wow!

Alot of projects on the go i like it :)

Picked a DC5 PRC inlet manifold.. had planned on using RBC but the clearence issues in the EF bay means this is a much easier option.. and with the charger on there I dont think I'll be struggling to make power! PRC is slightly better than PRA so kind of a halfway house!

Gave it a coat of satin black..

Started prepping the motor ready for fitting.. loom on and all plugged in, PRC manifold on with Hondata thermal gasket, piped out the IACV and removed the purge valve pipework and metal brake booster pipe and bracket as its massive and not really needed.. purge valve will be blanked later and I'll probly move the brake booster feed to where the PCV feed is for better clearence.. just got the flywheel to swap over and clutch and then box to fit...

Scabby valve cover will be painted once its in..

Nice!!!

But those enkeis are lovely. I wish I had a set in 15x7 or 15x8 :)

Got the DC5 shifter mounted today.. My son cut the shifter mounting plate for me at work got it marked up and drilled ready to take the shifter.. also gave it a coat of satin black to match the shifter...

Fitted my Momo wheel and boss too.. and the final touch to the shifter.. FN2 gearknob..

Finished prepping the motor... DC5 flywheel on, new clutch and my gearbox which has shorter DC5, 4th 5th and 6th gears, Gripper plate diff, 5.1 f/d and carbon synchros.

I also modified the subframe for abit more clearence as I'm using the K-tuned 4-1 manifold, its gonna be very tight down there, so i took the lip back for an extra 10mm or so... fingers crossed its enough!

That's a bit close for comfort!

Yeah its tight with a 1" M/C in there.. I will be spacing the engine down to gain some bonnet clearance.. so will possibly gain a few more mill from the end of the M/C.. I have 85mm of sump clearance at mo with the oem cast sump.. if i switch to steel I can gain another 18mm so can space the motor down 18mm easily enough.. I had 75mm of clearence on my old EG track car and that rarely hit the floor...

Really pleased the header clears without issue..

Could you use a thinner servo/booster mated to the 1" mc? I'm sure the servo on my ek4 is narrower than on my ek9.

Yeah there are options, I'm not concerned with cleaence on it tbh.. 75A mounts move very little.. and as you say slimmer boosters are available..

Not much to report on this.. I picked up a pair of rims to use on the rear at Mimms, as although I love the NT03's they are dam heavy!

I've also got the engine spaced down 12mm so i'm pretty confident I can use my skinned stock bonnet now..

New lip came in from the U.S.. Chargespeed rep in poly.. nice flat bottom for making a splitter setup..
