Thought I'd start a build thread it'll be a slow build as this is a second car and a bit of a car to learn on. I've always loved cars but never done anything other than easy maintenance and not like brakes, change exhaust, change grilles etc. and as my little ej cost me £150 I'm happy to experiment with this one. Anyway, this is how she sat when I got her...

Only had her 5 days so not done much other than starting to fix some issues, sorted out drivers window that wouldn't go past half way, and did a couple of bits of bodywork, I've never attempted anything like that before.

I know it's not great but needs a little tinkering and a quick spray should look better. Also did lower drivers door but didn't take a before.

Believe it or not it does look a lot straighter than before. But need to have a go with some filler sadly, don't want to chuck loads of filler on it but also don't have the funds for a new door.

Only plans I have for her are simple ones, want to tilt the spoiler, tidy her up , lower her, and will need a new front bumper at some point. If there are any good value for money mods please throw me some ideas.

EDIT: well after spending some more time with her I have some more plans. Want to try and set her up to handle as well as possible, might not be the most powerful but can still have fun in the corners.

Second hand door in the right colour may be your best option there, if you have the patience to wait for one to come up for sale,
You could probably buy one cheaper than the paint and materials needed to do the damaged door.

Yeah it probably will be, just going to have to be religious with the searching of it. They're harder to get parts for than I imagined. But then again they are at best 15 year old cars now.

got the same window problem( drives side) so annoying some days it doesn't even go up. Got the car for a bargin:D

The window wasn't too hard to sort out once Id worked out the issue. It was catching on a screw that held the mechanism in place so ended up bending in the bit of metal it was catching on with some plyers. Problem sorted :)

Small progress got a 2nd hand headlight so while I was taking that off I also removed the grilled easy to spray and pushed a crack in the bumper back in. Ready to be filled and sprayed.

How ruined she looked half way through.

Then all finished. Gaps are looking much better than before. And really pleased with the grille now being black rather than chrome.

Also removed the number plate backing plate. But will need a new bonnet, it's all twisted on the left due to last owner having a minor prang.

Starting to look a bit better! I've got a few bits that would look cool on this that I may sell!

I may be interested depending on whats available and prices (wife and kid bleed me dry)

Yet another small update. Had to realign the headlight as one was way out.
Also did a couple of cosmetic bits, tilted the spoiler

And polished the spoiler gives me hope for the rest of the car

Removed the ugly battered hubcaps and then sprayed one of the steels to see if I'll bother to do the rest. But quite pleased with my bodge job, can't afford alloys any time soon so staying with steels but with spraying it's just shown how much I need it lower.
(Who needs a body shop when you've got a rattle can and a pack of cards)

All comments and criticisms welcome.

Well last week she passed her mot with just one advisory (n/s fluctuating front brake) so pretty happy with that. Will grab a couple of discs and should sort that hopefully. Ordered a few small bits due to come this week, new weighted gearknob and new gaitor. And should be ordering eibach springs on Friday. Found them for £110ish from Germany with free delivery so can't say no to that as best over found here is £170 + p+p.

Well the bits turned up today (although new cd player front panel doesn't work). Got the gaitor and knob on I think it looks much better, and gear changes are slightly improved with the extra weight.

Finally got a CD player so have some tunes now thank god. On a better note though these arrived today....

Hopefully get them fitted over next couple of days.

sadly not. Can't find a comet blue breaking when I have spare money. Will get one at some point. Just need to find about £700 so I can get everything I want for the outside haha.

Again a small update. Today I managed to finally give her a bit of a clean and polish. Most of the horrible white marks are gone or a lot better at least.

Also went a little mad with an aerosol, sprayed the rest of the wheels and the side skirts. Awful job as I plan on replacing both side skirts and the wheels. But looks much better (at a distance anyway)

But now means the rest of the black trim needs sorting.

Just a cable tie, nothing clever. Lol. Although the gaitor I have is a little short quite fiddly job.

Just ordered some new wheels too. Some Brock b2's (15x7 et35) only seen them on a civic while searching google for them haha. Not sure whether to spray them or not.
