Can someone please explain to me what the rules are in regards to selling stuff on this forum? Ive seen a few posts recently about donators not needing to reach the post count before selling on here. Is this true? Id happily give a donation to the site as i am a genuine user and would like the oppurtunity to sell items to others. The main reason for my low post count is due to my lack of technical knowledge and as a result i feel i have little or nothing to contribute to a discussion on what ever the topic may be. As a result of this ii more so just enjoy reading through the forum, from which i have learned alot! Having said that i am willing to wait for the PRIVILEDGE of beong allowed to sell on the forum by reaching the post count. I dont see why this so called rule can be broken with a simple donation. Rant over.

I dont think its as simple as making a donation and then your fine to go selling things its more to keep people from abusing the site signing up floggin their **** making a quick few quid and no intensions on coming back on the site i do agree with the postcount minium it makes people and the ek9.org comunity join in more and be more active

Theres parts in the for sale section with a post count of 68 i think it is. I questioned it and i got the response im a donator. Maybe this user has a special agreement with mods but if so there should be a list of such users compiled and displayed for all to see in my opinion just so we know who is trusted and who isnt

If it's EK9 parts why would that matter? It's better for the community that there is a decent stream of parts available. Keeps the cars on the road, keeps prices lower. I don't see the issue.

Understand your point escy but the matter is rules are rules and they are their for a reason !!!

This is how I pretty much see it, but all free to use forums seem to follow this post count rule. Why I don't know? To protect users from potentially being scammed? That's why there are payment methods like PayPal available for people to use. And if you was really unsure there's always cash on collection. Does a user having over 250 posts make a user more trustworthy then someone with 50? No, possibly they just more time on there hands. Unfortunately there are no doubt many users who don't have 250 posts that could have many useful items forsale that member may need/want, but at the end of the day rules are rules. They should be followed. The post count on the other hand does keep the forum rolling and the topics and threads flowing which is a good thing.

Exactly the way I see it as well, I got the "im a donator so im allowed to sell items".

@ JT, people with under 250 posts can still sell items just to let you know, it does give them the privilege to sell items lol

I personally feel that the situation needs to be monitored and those breaking the rules should receive warnings followed by weekly/monthly bans or what ever punishment may be deemed suitable by the mods in my opinion. Maybe others will think im being a bit harsh etc but all it takes is a few scammers to get a foot hold and ek9.org with lose the good name that it has.

Yes you are right :)

Better to report to a mod or here :nice:

The biggest reason of all is to prevent scams. All scams sofar have been with a user with low post count. Of course it's not 100% guarantee against being scammed, but someone who wants to scam is going to look for another please where a user does not need 250 posts. Have a look in here to see that we do act on people posting nonsense.

It's clear that you have no experience being scammed when a payment has been done through Paypal. I always thought the same untill I got scammed (for just a little bit fortunately). It's very simple. If a user has got 1.000.000 quid on his bankaccount, no available credits on Paypal account (you don't need credits to pay with Paypal cause Paypal can also take money off the bank but ONLY on your behalve and not when they suspect you from scamming), you pay that person 5000 quid for an item and it never gets delivered. Do you know what Paypal says? Simply that there is no money/credit on the Paypal account itself and that they can do nothing more than suspend the payment options for that account. Seriously, Paypal ain't thát safe. They're just trying to make a lot of money by using a transfer rate in their advantage and the 3% fee. Paypal sucks.

The thing is, as said before, all users that pulled a scam had low post count. If it's gonna take days or weeks before you cna pull of your scam you'll probably find another place to try it. Which makes this a little bit safer.

And yes, rules are rules. But that on itself is not an arguement; we have very good reasons for these rules, all based on our need to protect our members, including you!

Luckily for my I have never been scammed so I was totally unaware PayPal would do nothing at all about it. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

No problem. It's just such a shame that Paypal uses marketing to suggest they do more than they really can/want to protect the buyer.

Sorry to hijack this thread, has anyone heard from WEAVEWORX ??? Myself and wazer are still awaiting a refund from a group buy that went wrong. Is there anyone one else still waiting???

Can't believe you and James are still waiting for a refund!!!

I have parts, good rare expensive parts that I no longer need or am going down a different route with that i would like to sell, I don't mind the post count rule , however this forum is a little slow (i guess its to do with the rareity and lack of owners compared to ep3's for eg) I think it may take me years to get the 250 posts . Are there any other uk ek9 forums ? The reason is I'd like to sell my parts and also I keep asking for help in the technical and no replys. Not moaning just a general question
