Hi guys, just got back from football & noticed smoke in my wing mirror while reversing into my parking spot. Watched it tick over & have slight bit of White smoke & moisture on tick over out of the exhaust. Smoke increases when rev'd. (we aren't talking LOTS of smoke here)

Car was serviced last Thursday with valve clearance done last Wednesday.

Any ideas what this could be? Thanks in advance

Blown head gasket? Maybe?

Thanks for the reply man ... Its weird, it has actually happened again tonight, during the week it was fine but tonight after football AGAIN it started when I arrived home?? We are talking a 2 minute drive here too ... I guess I should just walk / jog to football ...

Oil is fine, coolant level hasn't moved ... Random

Engine prob still warming up if only 2min drive away. Take it for a 20min drive and see if it does it then.

I'm putting it down to that, could this have a negative effect on the engine at all?

Or just let it idle until its up to temp. to check it.
Moisture is common out the pipe as its coming up to temp. Goes away once up to temp...pending on outdoor conditions.

White smoke out the pipe to me is a very a different look from water vapor out the pipe. Take a picture or video and post it for us to review and comment on.

Do you powerwash your car at all? common for water to sit in low areas in the exhaust like the back box

THREAD RESURRECTION:

So this is kinda still happening, I would not call this smoke now, what it looks like to me is moisture. When I say moisture I don't mean liquid, I mean that goes into the air. Here is the situation:

Car has not burnt any oil at all since serviced on 77k. Now stands 400 short of 80k.

Oil is clean.

Coolant is clean.

Coolant checked when stood over night - between MAX & MIN. Checked after a drive & up to temperature - over MAX by 10mm (is this right?)

Due to cold mornings recently the moisture is more visible, looks like there is a lot more.

Once run up to temperature, no sign of moisture at all, even in VTEC.

There is no specific smell to the moisture.

I have purposefully not cleaned my car with a power hose as I've read this can be a cause of water sitting in the exhaust once cleaned, so I can safely say this isn't the cause.

Any help will be appreciated.

You could try squeezing the coolant hoses going to and from your rad after a long drive, if one or the other feels really hard then it will be your head gasket mate. Another check is to take your rad cap off (when the engine is cold) and then run the engine with it off, look for any signs of bubbling. Hope this helps.

Its definately not a head gasket :nice:

water vapour is a by product of combustion and cold weather leads to excessive
exhaust smoke.

Apart from obvious exhaust fumes it does not smell, I cant see it being a head gasket either to be honest ... had a look at the pcv valve and that looks fine :nice:
