So, what do you do?

Best project I got involved in was an American guy who got us to test the T53 engine he had bought out of a A1 Abrams Tank, he was fitting it into a car to try & break the land speed record for a wheel driven car. It produced over 4900 hp, but he was having real issues getting a gearbox to stay in one piece !

Ah fair enough, I just presumed you were aircraft gas turbine, I was in the RB199(tornado) test bed for a while :) great fun

Ever considered Mechanical Design? :)

Thats ideally what I want to go into! My thinking with doing the general engineering degree was that it would keep my options open. I was a bit cautious when I chose my degree not to specialize too much just incase that market became saturated when I graduate. Thats why I went for that over something like ME with energy etc.

I'm applying for internships currently for summer because I really want to get some experience under my belt. Its just finding the balance between getting an internship to gain some/any experience and getting something that I actually would love to do (if you get me haha).

Who is it that you work for? Feel free to PM me if you'd rather not say on here :nice:

What part of your course covers drawing giant cartoon dinosaurs ? Ha ha

Haha, that part comes under the exams section!

Innovative Technology ltd, its no secret!

We even take interns, but we are Manchester - I had an electronic engineer last year who is coming back to join us full time. Which is basically the point from a business perspective!

Fun products. ..we invent&design and make prototypes. Gears, wheels belts motors. I even designed an anti roll bar into a banknote cashbox ;-)

Im not here to recruit people - but I like to promote engineering where possible as its a brilliant career if you have the right talents.

degree in civil engineering, diploma as a computer tech. currently working for BT as a faultsman, jointer, customer service engineer... looking to move abroad next year and get back to engineering as i was designing sustainable drainage systems a few years ago and also doing mobility schemes for disabled access to places which i enjoyed. :(

Nearly Qualified as a HGV Mechanic but i want to go back to college to go further, currently looking at different courses like Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, i want to get a degree under my belt!

Yeah, I think it's all about getting your foot in the door and then going from there.

Will have a look into you guys, seems like stuff I'd be interested in, I'll maybe fire in an application for an internship :nice:

I'm an industrial designer at Van Hool in Belgium. I design the tank semi-trailers (technical design)
