Spoon Civic Video!!! 11,000 RPM

if you read the bottom of the screen it actually says no matter what 9200 is the fastest. 4.02

What he is saying is that the engine seems to make max power at 9200rpm and after that power tapers off (which is normal) so he feels more comfortable shifting at 9200rpm.

In regards to the comment about this engine using the s2000 blue print i believe there is some miss communication here due to possible language differences, what was meant by that is that the concept of this engine was similar to the S2000, the s2000 also has a very large crank girdle (block brace) that is similar to the spoon crank girdle.

9200 seems about right for maximum power...

Listening to it, it sounds like its not really wanting to go past 10k....it certainly doesnt make any real power up that high anyhow...

Would be pretty brave/pointless to rev it to 11k i reckon:shocked:

As some were saying the biggest advantage here is that you can change gear AROUND peak power, rather than just after you get peak power. Hard to explain but if you think about it as an average of horsepower used, if you make peak power (say 200bhp) at 9200 and shift at 9250 back down to 7500rpm (where you have 180bhp and building), you will be using less power than if you change gear at say 10,000rpm (where power may still be being built on slightly dependant on cams etc) and drop back down to 8,500rpm you'll be accessing alot more of your power alot more of the time. Hence why the higher revving car pulled better up the hill before changing gear back into good power.

 Made sense to me anyway lol

surely using ARP main and rod bolts would secure eveyrhing almost as well as the block brace would? shame they disco'd that i was after 1 a while back :(

Are Function7 not doing a block brace now to enable high rpm from the b series. Anyone any experience of using the Funcion7 block brace ?

That engine would sound awesome on a set of ITB's !!!!
I totally agree that the power just runns out at about 9500, it looked like it was even struggling to gain any more rpm past 10k.
I think Spoon just purely built this as a publicity stunt.
