hey guys

i reallllllllllllllllllllllllllllly want a duckbill spoiler, i think they just look amazing
problem is genuine ones are so damn expensive and hard to come by, iv seen a couple but there all going for the £450 range,
which is way out of my league

do any of you know how the replicas look/fit? as there much more into a price range i can afford

:thanks:

I was told that the fitment of the NRG replica sold by funkypower was as good as if not better finish than the actual spoon item. Not sure if any one can back me up on this comment though?

In this I would not get spoon, you can't tell the difference at all..

Bnew spoon spoiler is £332 posted (from spoonsportseurope.net)

go with the nrg one fella,i have a few nrg parts and there all really good quality

this is 1 item where copies are very very hard to tell apart from real thing, i bought spoon 1 of someone but got done over so ended buying copy (think it was from funkypower), fits fine and has angles/size i wanted and looks real good

I've got one my self, the finish is not that good for the price you pay. Got mine from funkey power had to send one back because the finish was crap. You would be better of get a non spoon one. Or it's the name yr after

its not the name i want, its the look :)

how much should a replica cost, iv found sites varying from £85 all the way to £225 :S

I think I will have to disagree with some of you guys here. I think the spoon wing fits way better then the nrg copy. I had the nrg copy for a while and fitment was not good at all (even rubbed on the roof when I opened the hatch all the way). Once i bought my spoon wing the fitment and look was day and night..but thats just my experience.

I have run both on my EK9 hatch, and there are pluses and minuses for both ways:

Genuine Spoon:
1. /\ Genuine actually says "Spoon" on it
2. /\ Fitment is perfect.
3. \/ Costs a bloody small fortune!

Replica:
1. \/ Fitment is ok (for the one I bought at any rate)
2. \/ Doesn't say "Spoon" anywhere unless you put a sticker on it yourself.
3. \/ Slightly heavier.
4. /\ /\ /\ /\ /\ /\ The BIG plus for me is that the wing is attached a different way to the original, in that there are bolts going up into the wing, instead of studs extending down through the hatch. With this in mind you can vary the length of the bolts and space the wing to acheive a better angle than original Spoon (similar to the EG spoon wing), which is more or less to smooth the airflow over the car rather than provide downforce.

Side by side you can't tell unless you use a magnifying glass, and for racing use if you crash original parts are going to cost a fortune to replace.

If you've got the cash go for original, but only if you're super fussy. Otherwise replica will do the same job for less money.

My 2c.

i think ill go with the replica and see how it turns out,
especially if i can alter the tilt a little as i love the duckbill shape on the EG,
cheers for that timmiblc, youve set my mind :D

haha course i will

when i save up :D

keep spending money on all the little things, specially cleaning products
and its slowly building up ha
