hi, new to all of forum stuff :)
my name is ian im from donegal ireland.
im just wondering about the spoon n1 exhaust???
is it good??? how loud is it???
dont realy want anything too loud..
any help would be great..
thanks ian..

From my experience, running comptech 421 straight decat n spoon cat back..

is it good???

Yes it is, gives good performance and a nice distinct sound

how loud is it???

can be one of the loudest :))

Best exhaust for an EK9 imo, SCREAMS top end, bit boomy low down but pops and bangs when you life off too

How loud? Very, i still have the cat in and its damn loud anything over 4k, here's a video of my car on the rollers to give you an idea, this was not long after i got the exhaust, now that its worn in its a fair wack louder :)

YouTube - civic ek9 dyno run - Spoon N1 note-age!

thanks for your answers lads,
would love a mugen twin loop but they are a bit pricey.
like the n1 but if it too loud i'll have to think on somthing else,
my girlfriend will be driving it to and i dont want her to get bothered
by the cops if you know what i meen:nono:

Is it mainly the b-pipe that makes it loud? Cause I was thinking of just getting the axle back or is it still mega loud?

I have the axle back and stock ek4 b pipe with a decat, i wouldnt call it loud as such. You can trundle along and it wont make any noise at all. Once you get the revs up it does get loud though

why not ge the spoon n1 and buy a bung for it? just a suggestion i had bung for mine was a good bit quiter but missed the noise so took it out again lol. I'm running a 4-2-1 de cat spoon b pipe and n1 it aint too bad if you keep below 2k revs for around the town

When i had it in it did feel restricted, but the whole reason of putting it in is to keep noise down so you aint gonna be driving it hard :p

I laugh at people who buy an exhaust in the aim to free up some power and let the engine breathe better then restrict it by adding a bung

Also it's really not good for your engine to run the car hard with a bung.....

I see where your coming from steven but as i said the reason for using a bung is to restrict noise so why drive the car hard when it's in, pesonally i only bought a bung as when i bought my car it had a straight through centre section which was ear piercing  so used a bung until i got my b pipe :)

I have the N1 backbox and to be honest i dont think its as loud as people make it out to be. I have a 4-2-1 header, the cat is still in and the stock ek9 b-pipe and if your just driving along with little throttle i cant hear it over the engine noise. It comes to life a bit when full throttle is applied but nothing major as my induction note is still louder from the engine bay.

In vtec its nice, get a nice 'bark' out of it but again nothing too major and its a good quality sound.

I havent used this exhaust with the spoon b-pipe so maybe some one who has can chip in here too??

Want to point out that my car is stripped at the rear and the loud induction note is due to my j's intake :)

I would deffo recommend this exhaust to people :nice:

I have previously used a manifold back Tanabe concept g and the stock ek9 system.
