Hello; I am new here and I immediately need help

I like to go to my garage from time to time and mess around with my cars . . the bad thing about it is that I don't know anything when it comes to the technical stuff.. and the worst thing is that most of the time I mess something up every time I mess with my cars. Usually it's nothing serious, but this time..

. . okay.. so, I unscrewed that this thing (1) and then I pulled out the other thing (2) and a lot of steam came out of that.. radiator thing :D so . . can somebody please tell me what I've done and what I can do to fix this ?

It made a huge mess in my engine bay but I clead that up.. I just . . don't know what I've done :D

Thank you for your help

That would be the a/c coolant. However it should of evaporated? :nice:

You've released the pressure in the aircon system. So you'll need it recharged for it too work.

Right, I see :) I was hoping that it's not anything too serious :D thank you so much.

Always follow pipes and cables before ever touching them :) you soon learn that!

Reminds me of when I took the radiator cap of my mini when i was 15...when the engine was warm. Scared the hell out of me, burnt me and made a right mess of my engine bay lol. You learn quickly.

Is A/C vapour not really poisonous too? I shut a little pebble in mine and ran away to discharge it, you'd have to stand there with the bleed nipple thing depressed to remove the A/C gas.

Don't vent it to atmosphere !

Most common injury off refrigerant is fridge burn, can cause localised frostbite.
You'll need to take it to a garage/specialist to have the rest of the refrigerant recovered and the system filled up.

Do not just top it up with one of those 'one shot' cans !

I will definitely take it to a specialist. Yeah I ran away from it as soon as it popped 'cause it scared the hell out of me :D . . I just watched the steam blow out from a distance..

as above get it to a proper garage. id get them to run some dye/ test on the system while your getting it gassed up.

Dye is a pointless and expensive option if the system was working fine before. A simple recovery/pressure test/vac then charge will be fine.
