I noticed that after a short light drive the rear brake disc from the driver side get really hot. I took the wheel out to have a look and the caliper is stuck, the wheel can rotate but with some drag and that is the problem.

Did some of you experience this problem?

What is wrong with my rear caliper, the piston stuck?

The caliper is starting to seize or is seized.
You can rebuild it, which is the best option.
Rebuild kits are cheap from honda or oemjapparts

once they get to that stage full rebuild is best or just buy new 1 (if you bought oem piston, seal kit, bleed nipple + other bits, sandblast, reassembly etc its not cheap)

new 1 is best option and easiest

New one is very expensive for me.

I see what I can do without spending money.

ill ask around for you, let me know part number thats written on caliper, i just bought brand new oem fully rebuilt 1 for mine at good price (half what honda wanted)

Have you recently changed the discs? I had this problem recently and it turned out the caliper was fine, but the disc was too thick. Chucked the old discs back on and the problem went away.

No I didn't.

I already bought a Seiken rebuilding kit and tomorow I will rebuilt the caliper :nice:

Thanks for all the help.

BTW i like very much seiken stuff i use their driveshafts boot's and they are awsome I believe they are better than Honda one's.

did you wind the pistons back in when you changed the discs? sounds more like this to me,,

This happened on my old vti. the caliper clamped on and the wheel locked up. I just kept driving as i was in the city centre untill it freed of then when i stoped there was smoke coming from the wheel and the disc was bright red. The caliper was wrecked.

They were wound fully back. Wheel turned freely until the brakes were applied, each time they were applied they would not release, they just got tighter and tighter until the disc was glowing almost white hot. Replaced the disc, nothing else, and the problem went away.

Weird eh.

the kit doesnt include piston, bleed nipple, spring and new internals

if caliper is seized or starting the above kit is useless, the caliper i replaced was rebuilt simply as precaution when i fitted new caliper on other size few years back but still went few weeks back

me and mate are looking into buying batch of fully rebuilt oem calipers that come with 2 year gurantee and new slider boots and pad clips, prices of calipers have rose dramatically over last couple years so hopin to get cracking deal like what i did i pass it on

can someone pm or post up number stamped on caliper of their ek9 please or if have 1 lying around measure the piston from tip of stub to another

The problem of the caliper was the piston with some deep scoring.

Here is the piston :nono:

This one cannot be saved, I have to order a new one.

Thanks for all the help and contacts.
