Hi Folks. An EK9 has come up for sale in my area. Really interested in buying it, just think he's asking too much for it. I noticed the first UK owner of the car is a member on the forum and bought it for 6k in 2008, with 55,000 miles. It's now 2014, it has 69,000 miles and he's looking for 6k.... It's a 1998 pre facelift. Is it worth going for? Here it is..

Thank you in advance.

Too expensive IMO.

Also, this is just a pet peeve, but I assume anyone who writes a car advert in full capitals vehicle is not worth viewing.

He said to me that one of the arches was beginning to rust, hardly superb condition in my opinion.

Agreed! Another desperate looking ad that would put me of buying. Also things like "EXTREMELY LOW MILEAGE"... 61k miles is hardly extreme.

If you have the money go and have a look. Always best as one persons idea of condition, rust etc on an 16 year old car varies dramatically e.g. surface rust on paint v penetrated rust. So many time wasters out there if he sees a genuine buyer you have a better chance of a deal I think.

That price wouldn't put me off having a look.

Before I bought mine back in 97 I drove 400 mile round trip to look at a car described as mint. There was not an unmarked panel, Seller then told me it was mint for a 10 year old car lol. So yeah get out there and have a look.

If you're gonna try and make £6k, the seller should at least proof-read the advert next time and turn the bloody caps lock off!

Cheers for the reply.

I've advised him that he is asking far too much for the car, so he said come down and have a look and we can negotiate a price. He said 5k won't take it though. He also said there is no rust what so ever. Only thing I can do is go down and take a look, I'll let you know. Cheers

Why is it all dealers put everything in capitals haha. As you have said man its worth a look if its close enough.

We all end up coming back to the 9's eh... I'm on the hunt myself but instead of hunting i seem to be just collecting parts for it... Hmmm

But as said that's a bit steep considering the arches

Hold out and keep looking, you will end up traveling but will be worth it 100%

I bought the car, there is no rust what so ever on the car/arches. The engine runs/sounds great, old MOTs and receipts are all there. It has 92,000 Kmh on the clock. I managed to get it from £5995 to £4800 due to needing 4 new tyres and a bolt missing from the 4 branch manifold! Thought it was a bargain myself.
