Hi, ive recently been postin about a turbo fitted to my 9 ive scrapped the idea after blinx gave some advice on buy cheap u get cheap so instead im puttin the money towards more minor mods.

Anyone got any ideas what would increase acceleration or responsiveness to my ek9?

I dont know if this is why but when ever i push my my foot to the floor it feels as if something is pushing the pedal back up.. :nono:

It almost feels as if your trying to push a football under water in a pool heh thats the only thing i can compare it to.

Im going to get De-cat, 4 2 1 manifold but thats where my knowledge ends on modding haha

Anyone give some advice on what to buy or things to do to make it pull better?

Thanks

sounds to me like your throttle cable is too tight and your flexing the pedal as it hits the stop on the throttle body,,

Have you made sure the floormat is not getting in the way of the pedal? Or if you have aftermarket pedal set make sure the screws are not sticking out the rear too much.

For NA power the recipe is very simple:
-raise compression
-increase breathing
-big cams
-tune

Short of doing anything serious to the engine, to increase the response..........

-Good thurough service
-Port out inlet side of throttle body
-Make sure the throttle cable is well adjusted
-Remove the resonators from oem airbox
-Lighter flywheel
-Stiff engine mounts

All of that should increase responsiveness, full exhaust with decat would improve it even further

Check your car over for these faults before you even think about mods. You can do what ever mod you want but if the mats stopping your foot pedal or you have a problem with your throttle cable your wasting your money.

The decat and lightweight flywheel helped to increase response alot in mine:))

Final drive kit will increase your acceleration significantly.

Be sure to check that cable as you don't want to put much stress on your throttle body.
In my advise i would do these for minor mods
-new breathing system
-some ignition leads
-plugs
- maybe bigger throttle body (less pedal more response)
-DE-cat
-4-2-1 exhaust manifold
- and if your that crazy, get it stripped out completely.

How much gain can I get with lighter flywheel?
I heard the flywheel is good in high rpm, but decrease in middle-low range? Is it true?

whilst it is good in low revs as it accelerates faster it lacks in top speed as it decreases the momentum the original flywheel had.

it depends what you want to do with the car. For drag strip (high speed) a lightenend flywheel will provide more performance at the high rpm. For low speed & lots of cerners the original flywheel is better as it provides more torque at the bottom end.

unless there is a problem with throttle cable , would change the flywheel and final drive , best mod i have done .it will pick up better off v-tec i already had full exhaust and mugen air box on.looking to drive a 9 that has had a 4.9 fitted because the 4.7 worked well

welll i go back to what i said after seeing a vid on here (it's a recent one) with a lighter flywheel top speed is achieved very faster . but will need to remove the decat.
